Are teachers and students assigned regionally to each class, or are the students and teachers for any given class from all over the state?

Hi, will you please explain how the teachers keep up with all the students and at the student's pace, especially since the teachers have 25-100 students per class? # 2. when does the teacher get the time to notice my student may b behind and or not grasping a concept or not writing his sentences properly and especially for homework assignments? #3. How will the teacher reach out to my student to work 1:1 with my student when she sees he isn't writing sentences properly, or his homework is not up to par? #4. Would my student have the option to reach out for tutoring if he feels he needs that type of help? #5. will my students (3 boys) be able to take CCA Field trips when they'd like without missing important classroom time? #6. How is it suggested students make up the missed classes if on a field trip for a day? #7. Is there after-school homework help and for how long each night? thak you very much for your help and answers in advance.

Hello Angel, my name is Connor. I'm a senior at CCA and have been attending the school since 5th Grade, making this my 8th year at CCA. I understand this comment is a couple months old so you may have found the answers to some or all of these questions, but I felt I should take the time to help answer all of these questions real quick in case if you were still wondering. 1 - I have found that despite the teachers having relatively large classes, they still do a very good job with grading everything and managing the Live Classrooms and Guided Instructions regardless of how large the class may be. 2 - Personally I have taken a combination of both Honors and Standard classes at CCA, and have found that the teachers in both types of courses do a very good job at noticing when students are lagging behind, as they take the time to carefully grade each lessons, whether it is graded or not, and can see if the student is not performing at the level they should be. They also use the I-Ready benchmarks which occur three times a year, at the beginning, middle, and end of the year to determine how your student is performing relative to the state average for their grade level. 3 - Generally when a teacher would like to do a general check-in or would like to discuss a students performance in a course, they will use a variety of methods to reach out depending on the student. For younger students, they will generally reach out to you directly with a phone call or email to make sure that you are aware of the situation and also to see if you would like to discuss any possible solutions. For older students, they will send a chat message to make sure everything is okay and see how the student is feeling, and in many cases will ask the student to schedule a time to discuss the topic over a phone call or zoom. 4 - As mentioned in #3, every teacher (In my experience) has a bookings page (or similar) that a student or learning coach can use to set up a time to either discuss something or to get help with certain concepts or ideas they may be struggling with. You can also reach out via email or chat to ask the teacher if they would be willing to help your student with certain concepts if you would prefer that approach. My personal experience with this has been quite pleasant, as I was having some issues with Algebra II last school year and was able to easily reach out to and book times with my teacher and went through the lessons and assessments with the teacher and was able to complete 20+ assessments with that teacher as a result. Obviously, results will vary from teacher to teacher and some teachers may not offer something to that extent, but almost all of them will be willing to help in some way in my experience. 5 - Although field trips are currently limited due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, generally there are quite a few throughout the school year, generally at least a few per week throughout the state. Personally, my family always went on several a month, and probably upwards of 50 a year before the pandemic started. One of the nice things about CCA is that attending the live classes is always optional, and the student can always go back and watch the recording later if they feel that it helps they understand certain things better. As for actually completing the lessons or assessments that you may miss during the field trip, I find that generally it isn't too hard to complete them later in the day when I get back home, although sometimes the field trips do run long or are physically or mentally taxing enough that I simply cannot do the work that day. This is when the flexibility of CCA becomes very useful, as you can then go back and complete these overdue lessons or assignments on the weekend, over a break, or on a normal workday, depending on what you would prefer. 6 - Covered in #5 7 - I personally I have not found or heard of any after-school tutoring programs offered by the teachers, although generally the teachers I have worked with did work quite late in the day, normally up to about 4pm or so. As mentioned in #4, I worked with a teacher to get help with Algebra and was generally working with him at around 3pm - 4pm, which was well after both my and his live classes were done for the day. If I didn't explain something correctly or you have any other questions feel free to ask and I'll try to help out as best I can.

@@connor6683 You're so helpful, Connor! I'm thinking of enrolling my soon to be 7th graders in the fall, but my biggest fear is social isolation. I'm so apprehensive that they won't make any friends, or at least any that aren't online. How did this work for your family? Were coming from a regular private school so they've been in the school with the same kids from K-6th in person.

@@snowps1 I have been homeschooled since 6th grade, now I’m 19. You said you are concerned about the social impact it was very isolating for me. If you are active and participate in a events with your kid, such as sports, church etc that may make up for it. I still recommend public or private in-person school. As teachers connect with students more and students have the public school experience.
