I have found 2 of the easiest methods to date to install Windows 11 23H2 on unsupported hardware. I included both ways in this video because one of them is so easy I'm afraid Microsoft might block the workaround. You're not going to believe how easy these methods are.

Pro Tip: instead of double left clicking the iso file, you should instead right click open with windows explorer. It does the same thing, but if the user has applications installed that associate the .iso file extension, then it will open that application instead of mounting the iso. Hope this helps!

I installed this on my Dell laptop and now I'm installing it on my even older (2007) Dell desktop. So far I'm very satisfied the way the product is running. Both of my PC's have had their hard drive upgraded to a solid state drive. On my laptop, I'm not seeing any denigration of system speed. It boots in about 14 seconds. Thanks again and I'll let you know how the desktop goes.

For whatever reason, my system would not get the 23H2 update, so I downloaded the ISO using the Windows Media Creation Tool and did it as an upgrade. Believe it or not, the modification I did to get Windows 11 to install on unsupported hardware the first time was still present and worked for the upgrade as well! The way I knew this is what happened was the installer came up and said it was getting ready to install "Windows Server", which was part of the original hack. Well, 10 minutes later I had 23H2 installed without having to wipe my machine and start over!

The contrast between Windows Vista and Windows 11 is interesting. For Vista the issue was Microsoft certifying hardware that wasn't powerful enough to run it smoothly, now with 11 it's the opposite where they refuse to support hardware that is able to run it.
@Mario583a
@Mario583a 9 ай бұрын
Umm, yeah....I don't think Microsoft had any control over certifying hardware that OEMs put on there. OEMS most likey slapped the Vista-Capable sticker onto the underpowered machine since it could boot into Windows Vista and do all the things at bare minimum, so they called it a good enough day.

Um.... no hardware literately couldn't run windows vista that's what its issue was. People tried to run it on crap hardware and it ran like crack. Windows 11 doesn't seem to run like crap. For Those who state that the "Keep Files,settings,and apps" can't be selected first check what language version of windows is installed - you can check by opening cmd and typing dism /online /get-intl this will show your default system UI Language - so if it say en-US you'll need the united states iso from microsoft and if it states en-GB then the international iso is required so Note :picking the right iso to match your current default language will allow the Keep files,settings,and apps to be selected you cannot mix and match your iso choice.

Even though I'm not planning on upgrading from W10, my i7-6700k isn't supported, however it's still a beast of a chip, just doesn't have the security feature W11 wants. Microsoft is always taking the position of "we know better than you" and always forcefully and automatically activates / installs things instead of giving you an option. W11 has so much stuff to remove / change to make it comfortable for the average person it's incrediable.

Another method is to open the iso through either mount or explore, open the "sources" folder, find setupprep, right click and make a shortcut to desktop. Edit the shortcut entry "Target" by adding "(space)/product server". Now you simply double click the shortcut you created and you are off and running. less chance for typing errors, and if needed to try multiple times, just run again.

I recently got a Windows 11 laptop and found it was on 21H2 and wouldn't update (unsupported hardware). After much research I found your channel and this video. Many other youtubers suggested other ways or more complicated ways but I took the plunge and used your method (in this video) and it was the most painless update I have ever encountered (I started working on computers way before PCs were even thought of). I followed your instructions to the letter and it ran smoothly and took about an hour (Dell M6600 with solid state drive). I now have a clean 23H2 system thanks to you. I have already installed Explorer Patcher and that is also a very useful piece of software. The only thing I have found is that some of the default apps for some file types (mp4 predominately) have reverted to default and the Windows explorer now starts up at Home and not as it did before but that is small changes so I am not bothered. So again thank you very much for this video (and the others) and this is one of my go to channels for all things Windows.

The thing is I am all for this as I am also against these requirements. They are a "nice to have" but then having 1GB of RAM for Windows XP was a "nice to have" but it ran on my PC with just 256MB. I accepted it wouldn't be as good, but that was my choice. So it should be our choice if we are using secure boot. By all means flash a warning telling us this, but allow us the chance to accept the risk. We all know Windows 11 runs eitherway. Anyway my concern is while Windows 10 is still supported there are no real incentives for MS to patch this all out. When Win 10 end of life happens then that's when I worry they will block all these methods. I have a PC that meets the requirements, and another that doesnt. And I am not willing to pay for new hardware to keep using Windows.

IOW I didn't use Rufus or any skullduggery to load, yet Win11 installed and runs & updates perfectly. One was an HP Stream 14 with a Celeron N3350, the other was a Dell 3189 with a Pentium N4200. The installation media was for 22H2, then both self-updated to 23H2 using Windows update. In both cases, PC Health check reported that all other requirements were met: RAM, TPM, storage, secure boot, and multiple cores. Hopefully things will continue to work properly. Date: June 21, 2024

Just a small comment on the return to 22h2 thing. I think (and I could be wrong) that Windows is using the Windows.old folder to go back to that version. So, if you're planning to revert to that version, make sure you don't delete that folder prior to clicking Revert or Go Back or whatever that is. On the other hand, if you don't want to go back, you might actually want to delete it cause it's usually taking a lot of space.

this only confirm that the majority of the requirements is virtual requirements they did choose to add for no reason.. The TPM requirement is 100% virtual limitation. There is many computers in the wold that are strong enough to run windows 11 without issues or low performance but they dont have the "TPM 2.0" .. But i see it like this, if M$ want to kick away and ban their users for no reason its their right.. but they will loose paying customers.. Most people i have seen stick to windows 10 while they think if they should change OS or accept what M$ is doing.. My guess is that the majority of those users will use windows 10 even after the support is killed.

Great video! I was holding off on upgrading my Windows 10 computer with an AMD FX(tm)-8300 Eight-Core Processor, SSD and 12GB ram to Windows 11. But with this method of using Rufus, I started the upgrade right after writing the USB drive, it took only an hour and ran perfectly and fast on my computer! By the way my computer is roughly 10 years old now, but runs like a champ still. I will likely do this to my older AMD FX-6300 once I get a new Power supply for it, it's at least 12 years old and was still going strong until the old power supply failed.

Wow, that's a lot of work. I'm running Debian 12 and the trend seems to lean towards more hardware support rather than less. I was using and AMD FX-6100 until last year and it was noticeably faster than my mother's, much more modern, Windows 10 laptop. I really only parked it because it had a ton of up hours and I was starting to worry about it. What's happening over there in Microsoft land? Are you all OK?

typing 'winver' from the start menu and opening it will give you the Windows version as well. Just another way to get the Windows version build. Also - just wanted to say that unplugging the network cable on the sign-in to Microsoft for a new user account will bypass that to allow you to create a Local account on Windows 11 22H2 still works.

@CyberCPU

@@tonyf8167I very rarely do fresh install anymore. Windows is a lot more stable today than it was in the XP days when that was necessary. For instance, my Plex server has been through 2 complete hardware upgrades and started on Windows 7. Today it's on Windows 10 22H2 and has only ever been upgraded. It hasn't had a fresh install since it was new. That was easily over 15+ years ago. In fact, when it was new, it wasn't even a Plex server. It was a media center PC in my entertainment center. Today it sits in a server rack and runs Plex.

Kinda. What I mean by this is that if there is a major revision, you might have to clean install. Devices that do not meet these system requirements will no longer be guaranteed to receive updates, including but not limited to security updates.

Thank you. I am kind of half-happy with Windows 11, but with the end of support for 10 I decided to migrate my remaining win 10 laptop. I didn't want to downgrade from windows 10, but needs must. I only use it as an entertainment console (I can tun youtube without ads, for example) but i does have some some potentially sensitive data. This seems to have worked perfectly and I will use Classic Start Menu to retain the much better Explorer interface. Merci beaucoup.

Still works. I did it on a fresh Windows 10 install i had on a USB and just did the WIndows11 update without allowing windows 10 to update or anything. Then ran all windows 11 update downloader, it restarted a couple times, and everything is working. On a 2013 i7-4770, 32GB Ram, GTX580 8GB, and a SSD. Make sure you back up your stuff prior to attempting upgrade. I had some issue the first round, I can only say were probably my fault, not the process. I upgraded from Windows 10 that i had been running for about a year. Once in Windows 11, after performing windows update and restarting the PC, computer got hung up at windows loading screen. I later learned this was supposed to be a quick additional install/reboot. But I had a Black background and a loading wheel cursor that never ends. Hard restarted a few times and experienced this until i ended up reinistalling windows 10 and found good results that way. Just know you could have some funky thing you did with your computer prior to upgrading that messes you up, you may just have to do a fresh install. Again, Make sure you back up your stuff prior to attempting upgrade.

I should have waited a bit longer to update my HP8200, 2nd gen. chip and used the enablement package to go from 22H2 to 23H2. A couple of weeks ago I downloaded the 23H2 ISO and ran setup. I used the method where you get to the "fail" screen then replace the appraiserres.dll file in the c:\$WINDOWS.~BT\sources folder with a zero-length dummy file and proceed. I had kept up with the updates on the 22H2 and ran cleanmgr before doing the install to get rid of any sludge.
