While Biotechnica does murky stuff as other corporations do, I don't think they feed people with people. There are several in-game references that cheapest and most profitable protein is crickets and mealworms. So majority of protein production is these, not plants, not humans. There might be some elite service for rich cannibals, but hey it might be a thing in real life too.

I'm amazed to learn that these NPCs have daily routines. The general absence of this from the game is one of the things that broke immersion, and lead to the marketing lies being mocked.

Corps have long controlled our lives, taken lots... and now they're after our souls." Now, i'd say it's not only Arasaka that deals in trying to control people. We've already seen Night Corp have shady dealings with mind control of certain politicians. If you listen to the radio, you'll eventuelly hear the host talk about Biotechnica, and their research into a certain fungus that is thought extinct. There's a whole lot of parasitic fungus', but one in particular can infect ants and turn them into zombies that return to their colony in order to burst and spread the spores. My guess about Biotechnica? Their mind control will come from research into parasitic/symbiotic fungus. Not cybernetics, but biotechnics.

I think this ties in with the Relic somehow, they could be vessels for those that have been soulkilled. Just a theory, but it's clear there's alot going on in the story we don't have all the details for, and I swear there's a song in game that references something like this

Crazy enough on the road leading from Pacifica to the Flats, there's a broken down truck, and a few dead bodies (2 men (1 nomad) and 3 women). There's a shard on the dead noman (Charlize) where he's talking to Dakota and it seems he and some other nomads where on a rescue mission there to save the women who were all about 1 month pregnant, but they were being chased.

Was waiting for the Soylent Green reference, and Mike delivers. It would not surprise me to find out Biotechnica was using engineered clones of any meat protein they could get their hands on to inject it into the food supply, or even have a bio-engineering division that was responsible for trying to bring cats, dogs, rats, and other missing animals back to Night City.

Scary stuff man, there are a few gigs and shards that give hints about Biotech and with the Riders of the Storm as well, Doctor Paradox also mentions they are putting chemicals in the water and food so there's some food for thought.

For a corp, there is no meaning in keeping an entire unefficient (and with a high upkeep) production line that doesn't make any saleable products. Even if you somehow recycle it's production.

I came back to this video to add a minor spoiler that contributes to the clone theory. The Fury Road easter egg in biotechnica flats has a shard of dialogue between the fixer Dakota smith and Charlize Fury, who was doing a gig for Smith which included smuggling "artificially fertilized" girls out of biotechnica's labs and being chased down by biotechnica agents. Obviously that's the plot to Fury Road but specifically calling them artificially fertilized could mean theyre surrogate mothers for clones being birthed in Biotechnica's labs.

This area is definitely cut content actually half of the game is cut content. Shame

The concept of humans as food goes back to the movie Soylent Green (with Charlton Heston), so this may well be a throwback or nod to that movie's premise.

Think the solution to V’s problem is having a clone made from his original genetics then have his engram upload into the clones body. Boom, problem solve. The downside? Seems like you would have to take Arasaka’s deal in the Devil ending cause it’s the only ending where Mikoshi is still intact.

I could see a DLC involving Biotechnica making a deal with Arasaka's Soul Killer program to make a human clone army.

You guys are missing a big clue there is another shard in the flats found on a dead convoy all about a crew hired by Dakota smith smuggling pregnant mothers out of Biotechnica unless I am remembering wrong (been awhile). Now it doesn't say human mothers, but it is super sketchy! It is literally found on a body name Charlize Fury next to a big truck. It is obviously a reference to Mad Max Fury Road with the gross harem and the whole mother's milk for water shit, but that does mean Biotechnica is making soylent green.

I saw doing the Killing in the name of sub mission and chase the signal to the biotech green house looking area (massive btw) so I decided to have a sticky beek and found a dead npc (bounty hunter maybe) but I picked up a legendary techgogs. Just wondering if anyone else has done the same.

The biotechnica flats seem to be a too big piece of the map to be just decorative. I'm sure there will be some kind of big update to actually use all this place for missions, gang activity, weird stuff, maybe even rituals and others

As the game is full of bigger or smaller references or easter eggs i would still say that it`s partialy a Soylent Green themed even if only in parts.

Not sure if you're aware of this but on the rock radio station Mike talks about a bunch of Biotechnica stuff. He's hinted at flourishing stories but they might have a hint of truth. This one I wasn't fully listening until the guy mentioned some wolves and Biotechnica. I recorded the last few seconds of his talk and it goes like this: "The question remains: where'd EBM get their knock-off wolfmen? They never had much of a gene-hacking division, so they must have come from some other corp. | The obvious answer, of course, is Biotechnica, who just happen to own most of the lands south of Night City, all the way down to the border. | So, what do you think listeners? Is Biotechnica releasing experimental monsters in the Badland? | Maybe those protein farms down there are a cover. Something broke out of a lab, with a taste for human blood." So you'd be right to believe there's definitely something shady going on in those protein farms. In patch 1.12 they also cut a bunch of his radio show dialogue...

It would be great that the next game or expansion to bring back johnny silver hand and jackie Welles by using the relic and this bag of meat cloning program. They could use that short amount of time that jackie slotted the shard to say that Jackie's engram got copied to the relic chip when he slotted it but only johnnys engram was attacking Vs neural connections. This would be able to be done by alts help at the nomad or secret ending as she would be able to copy the contents of the relic at the end of the game and she could use the crystal palace to store the copies of not only johnny and jackie but even a copy of V. She could then produce these engrams and use them to get back at arasaka not from cyberspace but the real world as they have ICE with her name on it. The corpo ending would work as well as they can say that arasaka copied the contents of the shard but hanako used it in a secret program to reproduce these characters but alt attacked and allowed the clones to escape after they became aware. This would be an interesting plot line that could call back all main characters from this game into a DLC or sequel no matter how you ended the game or even how you created your character. It would be their engram inside a host body so there wouldn't be any timeline or continuity issues with the true V who possibly has already died. This could be a huge mind fuck to panam or Judy as they may have already seen the original die only to meet them again as a clone who knows them or doesn't. (I'm of the opinion that they shouldn't allow you to keep your memories past a certain point since this would explain why you gotta level and learn merc work again). This would also parallel johnny and rogue as she saw johnny die at the tower only to find him alive years later in V. I think there should be more backstory for the political side of not only night city or between the corporations but between the night runners and the undercover netwatch runners. This would be easy to write in if ALT is still poking holes in the Blackwall. I just want a more detailed story then the chopped up one we got in the first game but since they already have all the digital assets and only need to add plot I hope they give us a better understanding of the world and what can happen. I'd even like secret questlines based on the brain dance editor we learned to use. Maybe busting a huge conspiracy with Blue eyes or a secret cult.

Assuming the story is following logic, one wouldn't expect a company to go through the effort to clone a human specifically to make food. Now, the whole real-world mad cow problem is believed to have started because farmers were feeding the parts of cows they couldnt sell to humans, to other cows (nature hates cannibalism). Following that line of logic, Biotechnica's food supply is most likely a disposal system. Im assuming the processed food would be possible body transplants that didn't find their way to customers, 'failed' clones, or 'disappeared' people. My guess would be these are clones that underwent medical trials for various medications and were then dumped into food vats.

BioTechnica are (like most corpo's lol) about profits. Clones in cyberpunk are more about spare parts than food. This likely means that they are only grown 'to order' by the rich and super rich to replace parts. And only a select group of rich folks at that, ones who refuse cyberware specifically. What they are likely growing in there are slabs of clonemeat, synth-sirloin (Jackie loves synth-sirloin stir fry noodles, remember lol) synth-chicken ect ranging in quality from the 'cardboard and sawdust' stuff that Takemura complained about (that sells to the lowest rungs of the business ladder) to the decent stuff that you get in posh restaurant chains and that's sold to the richer folks. We know folks in 2077 don't take kindly to 'real meat' from both the responses to V's questions to fast food vendors, and info from sources. Hell, at the back of the cyberpunk 'complete official guide, collectors edition' in the 'extras' section is info (and lots of adverts images, some ya may not have seen lol) saying that there is a growing movement in NightCity, of people rejecting anything 'organic' and embracing only the synthetic foods. The only place that seems to not be shocked and distressed by 'real meat' that I've seen, is Pacifica lol. (But the lady said the chicken was not for food, so um....whats the point of sacrificing a dead chicken? I thought the death was the sacrifice, not the flesh? Maybe they changed it there, I dunno lol)

As far as the lore goes, I don't really think it makes sense that a clone wouldn't be self aware when it's the exact same thing as the person it came from just without the memories. It would have the same brain, just no life experiences. Like an identical twin that had their memories erased.

ok, to start, thx for the video. now,: Biotechnica is widely hated by nomads as they are the Corp that set up Corporate Farming and farms, which from 2013 to 2020 was the primary reason so many nomads lost their farms and land and became nomads. from 2020 on the process only got worse as Biotecnica is the sole producer of CHOO2 (the most widely used fuel source in Cyberpunk for 80 yrs. 2013-2077), which is Carbon-Hydrogen-Oxygen-Oxygen (Carbon HydroDioxide) X 2 and is an organic compound grown in Biotechnica Corporate farms. With the addition of artificial meat and plants, the farms only got bigger. The family in Biotechnica flats is a nomad family whose land was stolen by Biotechnica, but having no resources and nowhere to go, they settled and died in the flats. As an aside: The oil fields in the north of the map are not actually used for fuel of any type but for high grade polymers, plastics, and lubricants, much are they are today, but with an emphasis on these products alone sense CHOO2 is the dominant fuel source, as explained above. Biotechnica stayed out of the 4th great cooperate war because clones from Biotechnica's clone division has secretly taken over the corporation and were seeking to take over ALL corporations and the government with its clones in the name of peace, stability, and eternal profits. This was covered in two Cyberpunk 2020 adventures called "Land of The Free" and "Home of the Brave", in which players find out about the Clone Conspiracy and can choose to either stop or participate in the takeover. Stopping the take over leads to an assist from Morgan Blackhand, and helping puts you on the opposite side of the battlefield against him. Either way the players are asked to make a roll at the end of the campaign to see if they are their "True Selves" or a Clone. I GM'ed this campaign on tabletop and witnessed several of my player explode with anger to find out they had been cloned. Needless to say they had fought the takeover and where VERY upset to find out they had been clones all along as the cloning process was already in full swing buy the time the players had discovered the Conspiracy and had already been replaced. This however, gives a wide and fertile ground for DLC as the actual solution to V's problem. Which is to have Biotechnica make a "perfect clone" of him, then use a relic made from Hellmann's schematics to transfer V's consciousness into the new awaiting brain, there by putting V's "brain" back in to V's "Body". This could also offer the player a chance to respec their base stats, or even remake their character from the ground up using the character editor.

it is pretty sad that this game is so unfinished that we have to deconstruct the story from parts of the game that barely exist.
