Why so concerned about playable genders? If you don't want to play as a trans individual, then don't. All the ultra violence doesn't seem to bother you, why would what's between your characters legs?

He is also mad because he took a flat fee as opposed to royalties or some % of sales saying that a videogame would never make any money. Salty old fool.

It's something that (perhaps unsurprisingly) I care a lot about. When we have access to the game next year, I'd love to do exactly that.

@@Jaffameister I'd love to hear it! Although a year is a long time to wait. Representation vs exploitation is a tricky thing, but... a nuanced discussion on the internet might be even trickier.

@@Jaffameister Neat. I'd also love to hear a discussion of the science fiction-y history of trans-ness? Hmm. That's maybe not a great way to phrase it, but body modification (and gender modification) was something that formerly seemed to be pure sci-fi and was well explored in those spaces in the 70's, 80's, and 90's. I believe the original Cyberpunk RPG had certain items related to gender modification, as did Vampire and DnD. And yet now it's squarely in our present day reality. I don't really have a conclusion to these thoughts, but I think there's something interesting in seeing an idea transition from science fiction to reality. Like... you know, lasers and space sails and stuff? *Of course, this isn't to say that trans folks didn't exist during these times (obviously), just that the ideas seemed to be more present in fiction than non-fiction... Edit: I think the conclusion to that thought is probably this: that trans folks and atypicals have always had a home in science fiction. And should continue to have one. Representation in the game now will help thousands of folks playing it to see a part of themselves that might be repressed, even if they're seeing it in a shoot-y RPG power fantasy. And that attempts to dismiss the trans community as "modern SJW's" to be kept out of gaming is to ignore a rich history that has been present in science fiction for decades. Okay cool sorry about the essay!

I have that worry too, but I have to wait to play the game first. From what I can tell we've only gotten glimpses of the first few hours of the game and the way they're presenting it makes it look like gta when I don't think that's representative of what the game actually is
