Nothing with the frame is square. The inside of the rails at the front are 14.5" and the inside of the rails at the rear is 22.5".

@@308dad8 it's half art, half go kart. An average chair is 18" wide, inside the frame rails is 20+". Your arms/elbows hang outside of the body. You can go wider, of course, but it ruins the aesthetics. 22" is really wide on a cyclekart

Others have done it this way you describe. I think two reasons: 1) this is my first real metalworking project, it's actually easier this way, in my opinion. With my way I only need to cut one time per dude. With the way you're suggesting, I need to cut each side twice to make a super long skinny pie piece, and if you screw up you have to cut it all out anyways, and 2) I was planning on adding a 2" extension to the "tip " of the curve, hammering it in place, I still would have needed to weld an extension And I guess 3) I'd have to hammer, in place, the steel into a reverse curve, at a funny angle. Instead I got to do do this at my leisure on a vice at the best angle

I think both ways are equally good. I prefer mine obviously. Mine also requires half as much cutting.
