Join us as we cycle and camp on part of Canada's "Great Trail" from Fernie to Trail, British Columbia, including crossing Gray Creek Pass. Expect lots of gravel, and stick around for the "Trail of Torture" (Ward's Ferry Trail) at around the 14 minute point of the video! This trip was done during the pandemic in Sep 2020.

Hi there! I had looked on the web prior to reaching out to you with no luck, therefore my note to you. I appreciate your reply. In the meantime, I’ve come across a mirror REI has here in California that might be worth a try, and similar to what I saw in your video. Will look forward to enjoying more of your work too. Thanks again.

Super trip. Yeah those forest roads are real hard, huge climbs, they really take it out of ya. The difference, rolling on those trails versus tarmac, its massive. Had a similiar experience here in Scotland last week, most of the trail looked rideable where I was going. A big bit was'nt, spent 6 hrs carrying panniers and bike across rough country, it was hell but most of the trip was great. I certainly would'nt want to do the bad bit again.

Thanks for watching the video Alexander! Obviously you can relate. But I'll bet those grueling 6 hours are the ones you'll remember the longest, even though you'd never want to repeat it! And they make the best stories. You must have lots of interesting off-road tracks to explore in Scotland.

As far as I can recall there’s actually some really sketchy bridges on the 3A that you guys missed. There’s literally no option except to “take the lane” with racing semi-trucks and other crazy drivers. You may have actually dodged a bullet

Just came across your video today….dreaming of coming up to BC later this year. Such a beautiful place that seems to amaze around every corner. Thank you for the route and comments. I see one of the bikes with drop bars has a mirror attached. Are you able to tell me of the brand or model as I’m in the market for this particular piece of equipment.
@daphnebehindbars
@daphnebehindbars Жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching the video Nick! That mirror is by Filzer, probably purchased at Mountain Equipment Coop (Canada), but it doesn't seem to be available anymore. And it's not great - it's so convex that images are too tiny. I'd like to find something better but it's not that easy to find mirrors to fit these handlebars that have bar-end shifting.

Is there no trail maintenance on the Great Trail? Any web site showing trail status along the way?
@daphnebehindbars
@daphnebehindbars 2 жыл бұрын
It depends very much on the local authorities responsible for each section of trail. You can get some information on the Great Trail website tctrail.ca/explore-the-map/ If you click on a section of the trail on the map, there is some information there. Trails BC trailsbc.ca/ is a very helpful website although I see they have updated and changed their website recently. But if you dig in there and select sections of the trail, there is lots of information plus links to other groups responsible for maintenance. Hope that helps.
