This two lane recreational road with lots of history and accommodations is a perfect six or seven day bike tour. This video documents a bike tour down the Natchez Trace Parkway. Used to live .5 mile off the NTP. Mile post 423. Spent alot of time riding it. Used to ride to Hohenwald and back or up to NV and back. Did alot of night rides, too. On a cold, clear late October night I rode past a wolverine shuffling along. He looked at me. I looked at him. Just 2 of God's creatures heading north on the NTP. Life can be strange, but wonderful. lol

Rode 220 miles in late October several years ago. One of the best rides I have done and the time of year was perfect. Pretty cool in the morning but warmed quickly. Very sparse traffic that time of year. Rode for almost an hour and didn't see a single vehicle the whole time. This should be on every cyclist's bucket list.

We live a couple of miles off the Trace in Franklin. The closest place to jump on the Trace is right on the bridge. It was fun to see all our favourite places to bike at the end of your video there. Great video!

Thank you for bringing me down Memory Lane, I had the pleasure of cycling the Trace about 7 years ago South to North. Also since that journey have headed down in the Early spring to enjoy an early spring when it is still snowing in my home town. To the People of America thankyou for allowing a cold Canadian to enjoy your National Park System. Remember one morning Park Ranger stopped at campsite...Today can you ride North bound...Tornado Warnings on your Daily loop if you go South. When in Rome do as the Romains!

HEY!!! We were also on the Trace bikepacking it the same time as you. I don't know if you remember but we stopped and talked with you. Your video came out GREAT. We also made some videos from our trip. I subscribed to your channel. We are currently trying to figure out what we are going to ride next...maybe the Katy trail. Until we met again on the trail, lol.

They look goofy, but it allows me to ride pain free. I have shoulder and neck issues and by being more upright it takes the weight off of my hands and the strain off my neck. They remind me of bars that came from a nine year old girl's bike. They're only missing the little plastic streamers on the grips. It's not built for speed, but neither am I.

Great video. I did that same ride in 2004. But only from Tupelo to Natchez. I’ve been thinking about getting back into cycling... still have my original bike from the 1990’s.

Paul your videos are the best i’ve found. Any tips on Nashville to Cincy? I’m going from New Orleans to DC but headed up to Cleveland before i head to Pittsburgh. Any guidance would be much appreciated!

Thanks for watching. I really appreciate it. I've not ridden that stretch between Nashville and Cincy. But i looked at a map. For me, I would ride straight north to the Ohio River and turn right. Follow the Ohio river on the Indiana/Ohio (north) side. Cincy to Cleveland sounds awesome, the OTET. The GAP and C&O from Pittsburgh to DC. Sounds like a great ride. Hope to see you down the road. But the reason it looks like I'm having fun when I'm bike touring is simple. I feel the most free when I'm bike touring. Nothing else gives me a greater sense of freedom. Thanks again! Hi Paul, another great ride. Please what are the ten best bike trails you know, and the main points why you consider that. This kind of information will help people that plans to do an adventure but does not have much information as you've already got. Thanks.

Do you mean bike routes (on paved roads) or bike trails (like off road bike paths)? I'm not sure I can do 10. But here's a couple. My favorite bike route in the US is the Pacific Coast Highway. It has some of the best scenery and the State Park campgrounds are very biker friendly. I really like the Natchez Trace Parkway. Very biker friendly and some delightful riding. It's in Mississippi, so be ready for some Southern culture. As far as bike paths (off road), I think the GAP and C&O is the best in the US. Together, it's the longest, 340 miles. It can be done as a bike packing trip, strictly camping or stay in hotels every night. All of the long rail trails and towpaths are good. The Katy Trail, the Ohio to Erie and the Erie Canal are all good bike paths. I know it's not as much detail as you wanted, but it's a start. Thanks again, Jairo. Ride on!

I have done it on a motorcycle and would love to do it on my bicycle. Did you have any close calls with cars? That would be my main concern. Enjoyed the video. Very well done!

The Natchez Trace is great on 2 wheels, motorized or otherwise. The majority of the parkway is mostly traffic free. However around Jackson, Tupelo and Nashville the traffic can get scary. Especially around rush hour. All of the local people are trying to find the quickest way home or to work and the parkway is a great alternative for them. And they are in a hurry. I got caught in that around south of the Jackson area around 5 pm on a Friday. No close calls, but it made me nervous.

Nice video. Planning on doing the Natchez twice this year on two wheels. Once by motorcycle (May) and once by bicycle (August). Do you have a preferred direction of travel? Ride safe.

I've rode it in both directions and no, I don't really have a preference. Nashville is higher in elevation, so riding north to south is slightly downhill. I've always wanted to ride the NTP on motorcycle, maybe one day. Thanks for watching my video and you ride safe as well.

Thanks for watching. I'm not sure where to go yet. I just hope I can get out, doesn't matter where. I thought about the Pacific Coast Highway, then part of the road washed out. Thinking about the TransAm from Carbondale, IL to Yorktown, Virginia. Brutal hills. Possibly the Mississippi River from Lake Itasca, Minnesota to Carbondale, IL. How about start in Wash DC, take the C&O and the GAP to the Ohio River and then follow the Ohio all the way home. Arkansas Highlands, Texas Hill Country? Dang, too many possibilities. You got any suggestions?

Please avoid the section in between Old Canton Rd in Ridgeland and the I20 exit in Clinton. This section is used by commuters who consistently speed. The Park Service does a poor job of traffic control. People die on this section annually. There is a multi use trail that will bypass most of this.
