Cyclops is the ultimate glass cannon build

Cyclops eyes are literally a portal to a dimension of pure energy. There is wild potential there.

He did that once to flatten a sentinel coming to the school.

Considering how his brother’s power manifests this makes perfect sense.

I think a good example of Cyclops' optic blast in media is from X-Men Evolution. At one point in a fight with Juggernaut, Cyclops' Blast was able to knock Juggernaut off his feet and hurl him backwards for a moment. The full power and effects of his blasts have never been fully calculated, but SHIELD did use him as an orbital strike cannon in the comics. Meaning his blasts can be on par with anti-nuke weaponry.

That one time Scott Summers gets the Phoenix Force while fighting the Avengers and literally burns the world into the crispiest piece of bacon

This dude is secretly omega level. He's just waiting for a writer to make it official.

Cyclops really is a secret badass. He has incredible control over his power and his optic blast is capable of disintegrating adamantium, and that's not even at full power. When written well by a good writer, Cyclops is a brilliant tactical leader as well as an absolute powerhouse.

Finally some justice for cyclops, if his brother Havoc can do all this amazing stuff, Cyclops should be able to do that and more!

Considering how insanely powerful Havok and Vulcan, Scott's brothers are, it makes sense that Scott is likewise an actual powerhouse.

He's literally the quiet and chill guy who could wreck a mf, but knowing he can is enough. The man is the definition of power under control, which is why he's my favorite character. He doesn't have claws, but he only needs to look at someone and he wins.

A Sentinel attacks the mansion early in the morning, the team throws down in their PJs. a little into the fight Scott yells "EVERYONE GET BEHIND ME." He removes his sunglasses and the next page of the book is all bright red, then the next page is shows a smoldering wasteland for acers. Logan says from behind Scott: "Every once in a while Summers. you remind me why your in charge."

They need to make Cyclops a badass Martial Artist! With some high level military CQC thrown in there as well. He has so much potential as a character

I think this really shows how disciplined and controlled Cyclops has to be most of the time.

Cyclops is legitimately handicapped. He has to keep his eyes closed, unless he can cover them with ruby quartz. So he’s basically blind without his glasses. Then, when he’s wearing ruby quartz lenses, Summers is color blind. The energy he’s expelling is red. The lenses are red. So everything he sees is in shades of red. Scott Summers is truly handicapped.

The fact that Cyclops has been geting the proper respect put on his name lately damn near makes me want to shed a tear. Tru X-Men/comic fans BEEN knew what time it is but now I see even the casuals are starting to learn and take notice. Shit is beautiful to see. Head honcho leader of the X-Men FOR A REASON.

He can take out a fly, knock someone back without killing them or blast a mountain his control is incredible

One of the reasons why I like X Men Evolution was when (although for a short time) they showed a version of Scott in full control of his ability! Havok too! It was cool!

Cyclops' power is extremely under-rated. At full blast the beam has a spread that covers his entire field of vision. The beams are powerful enough that Scott once disintegrated a falling crane, and he can tunnel through the earth with them. The scariest thing is he can't turn them off. This means he is always emitting at least some amount of energy. His eyes are an almost inifinite power source.

Look up how much movement the human eye does. After that imagine how dangerous Cyclops without his visor is.

Fun fact, Cyclop's visor is often connected remotely to a special glove with several buttons, which open the visor when pressed; each button controls how much of the visor is opened. It explains a bit why Cyclops is often seen firing his blasts without touching his visor on the side to press the button in there; he doesn't need to.

He can actually control the beam to change direction angles instead of just shooting a straight beam.

I hope they do this dude justice in a new X-men movie. Not just a background, part-time character.

I've always thought his energy blasts come from the Cyttorak dimension somehow. I'm sure one day some writer will make a story where they mention exactly that. Makes perfect sense.

Cyclops is actually OP. I never understood the hate he got from comic book fans. I believe in one story he shot an optic blast to the moon, while still on Earth, and ended up blowing up the moon, or something along those lines. And on top of that, I believe that there's an explanation for his powers (I forgot what story it was). His blasts not only comes from his eyes but, his brain is a portal to some type of dimension where there is this unlimited ruby energy, and his eyes are an outlet for this energy from that realm. Which explains why his blasts can flatten some of the strongest characters when he goes all-out.

Its basically a Galaxy worth of of energy coming out of his eyes.

IIRC (it's been a while) Cyclops Optic blast isn't energy, but pure force from a different dimension... They aren't comparable to anything on this planet, because the energy isn't FROM this planet, or even this dimension. So it's basically a gimme for any sub par writer to simply power creep or nerf him to whatever level they need to for the plot (whether he wins or loses is irrelevant, it's all dependent on plot anyway). Even teenage Cyclops was an absolute strategic genius with an innate understanding of spatial geometry, and those strengths get overlooked for the go to solution of MOAR POWER. Shame. I'm certain Cyclops is powerful enough and smart enough to figure out solutions for most problems without needing a power creep. ((Not dismissing he may or may not have always had this level, just saying that it isn't the first time they power creeped him, and it very well may not be necessary in lieu of actually creative solutions, if the writers bothered to work it out.. it just seems incredibly lazy).

Since his eyes are portals, there should be a variation where he can suck people in or open different portals that shoots out different types of beams.

Read astonishing Xmen when Cyclops delivered an unfiltered blast to a Sentinel. Even Wolverine comments about it in amazement.

Imagine Scott summers mixing night crawlers power source into his causing his beams to make things vanish… Cyclops true power is yet to be truly explored he is defeinelty an omega level mutant with the “eyes of god” Don’t forget that cyclops can have his energy come from diffeeent sources … imagine it with cyttorak, Thors lightning .. all kinds of sources

We need to get a cyclops movie that actually does him right. James Marsters will always be cyclops me. And I love every other iteration of cyclops in the movies. But we need a legitimate cyclops movie the way he is the main character, and we have introductions of maybe possible other X-Men characters, but we actually get to see cyclops use 100% of his power. And I don’t want them to constantly dwarf or minimizes power to some level and try to explain it away. No I mean I’m talking about the format of his power should be able to break or shatter Adamantium. Straight up. His character needs to be redeemed. For all the humiliating one-liners. For all the cut clips of him having great physical fighting prowess. And for all the times they undermine his power. I remember going home after school. And stopping by the corner store and playing the X-Men video game. He is iconic he has a leader he is powerful and he has never got his just do. He may have been given small pockets of respect and some comics and versus others. But for the most part he has been under rated as well as disrespected for far too long. Even my other characters in his own world. We need a cyclops movie. Fans let’s make it happen.

His eyes are portals to a detention of pure kinetic energy. In other words he's not blasting you with lasers. His eyes are basically pinching you really hard

The physics behind Scott’s optic blasts has changed over time: at the beginning, it was believed that his optical blast were fueled by the sun and ambient light radiation, and some plots revolved around his powers fading when he couldn’t recharge into sunlight. It was later discovered that the energy he draws from sunlight does not fuel directly his optic beams, but is used by his body to keep open two dimensional gates placed in his eyes that draw energy from another dimension. This is the reason why his optic blast are not hot themselves, but produce heat by attrition. Virtually, the amount of energy he can release is pratically endless as long as he can feed sunlight to the portals in his eyes, so it makes perfectly sense that he can overpower Captain Marvel by flooding her with a massive amount of extradimensional energy.

Would Scotts blast affect Superman? Since its red like the energy of a red sun.

Fun fact: it’s been confirmed that Scott doesn’t generate blasts of energy from his eyes. His eyes are literally portals to a Dimension primarily filled with this energy. His mutant abilities are actually how much he can open those portals.

If I recall,Scott's eyes are literally portals to what America Chavez has dubbed "The punch universe" Which means Scott himself isn't powerful in regards to the beams coming from his eyes because that power doesn't come from him. His actual mutant power is just keeping 2 tiny interdenominational portals open. Which in itself is a powerful feat. They just happened to be tuned in to a dimension that is just pure energy.

Scott summers is primarily recognized for letting his friends behind to die!

Its supposed to be kinetic energy. So you dont get blasted by an intense laser/ heat . it's like he's shooting a physical thing at you. His visor can change/control the intensity. The beam can go from as light as a punch to as strong as being running over with a train. And when he takes his visors off....thats a whole new game

Cylcops Optic blasts were alawsys his secondary weapon. His tactical awareness was always his most dangerous skill!

The swirling of the energy is a nice little reference to Scott's family. His brother Havok fires energy from his hands and without focusing the energy...it comes out as rings

I think Cyclops is a lot more impressive because of his intellect and strategic mind. Obviously, his power is awesome, but his leadership and drive are what make him special to me.

his optic blast comes from energy absorption, meaning the more he contains it and absorbs energy the more powerful he becomes. It would be cool to see a cyclops training his powers to achieve ultimate control. Like in x men evolution were magneto actually helped him achieve another mutation that leveled him up.

For years his projected powers were "laser beams". It was tetconned to be pure concussive force later on. This was the first time Ive seen it depicted as a maelstrom of pure kinetic force

The reason Summers has always lacked the acidity to control and direct his optic blasts without his ruby quartz visor can be entirely traced back to when he bumped his head, parachuting out of the plane his parents died in. Right after his brother and he were forced out with the only parachute the plane exploded and the blast caused him to bump his head on landing, which permanently damaged the part of his brain that would’ve kept his power under control and directed

Yeah, Cyclops took off his visor many times, but the blasts only appeared swirling this one time.

People often forget he's actually the x-men's heavy hitter.

He once demonstrated ability to redirect the beam, mid blast, multiple times like Darkseid's, to rescue Hepzibah who'd lept out into outer space to rescue Nightcrawler at risk of being lost herself.

I remember somebody rated most unrealistic super powers, and Cyclops' power was rated #1. Infinite amount of energy requiring infinite neck muscle strength

Ive read somewhere that his and havok powers worked like a battery, they are constantly absorbing cosmic energy thus scott needs the ruby lens and havok a complete suit so it wont leak out and regulate it. his optic blast can pulverize adamantium which is the strongest known element.

the absolute best depiction of his true power is when he takes his visor off and deletes a sentinel and the panel where it happens is just pure red with a little dot at the bottom being summers himself

His powers were only like that temporarily during that run, his powers have stopped doing that as it was specifically noted that he, Magneto, and several others were all affected with peculiarities temporarily after the AvX storyline where he was possessed by the Phoenix Force.

Just like the others that hold the same power set (just released differently) its raw uncontrolled chaotic energy. He just got lucky there was a way to focus it.
