I remember watching when Chris stopped by a while back. I just subscribed to your channel. I’m Very sorry for your lose of your son. My deepest respect for you and your family. It sure looks like your copilot would be a blessing to you. Just know he and God are watching over you and one day you will be reunited with him on the big project. Much Respect.

Now you can pick up some stumps and throw them onto a burn pile just like Chris does. You're going to have a lot of fun with the new AMI thumb.

The way the bucket's teeth and the thump's teeth look to be aligning well. I assume it fits the digging bucket too.
@southernhomesteadtransformatio Жыл бұрын
Yes, fits both the 36" & 18" digging buckets...Chris had them designed that way 😁

Did you check-adjust the hydraulic pressure to the thumb? If so location of the relief valve? Getting ready to install thumb on my yanmar. Thanks
@southernhomesteadtransformatio Жыл бұрын
No, I just installed it and pressure seems right.

the normal mini-thumbs look so flimsy.. I know when Chris shows a vid with his uncles mini's .. the thumb just looks like he could easily bend it.. where his with this thumb just has that look (and the way you handled it proved the point) that it's solid and stable... can't blame you one bit for getting the combo.
@southernhomesteadtransformatio Жыл бұрын
You are right Ron, The standard thumb is nothing compared to this one....Chris did a great job in designing it for sure!

@@southernhomesteadtransformatio I know.. I've never seen one up close and personal (I'm the computer nerd of the family.. the father was the heavy equipment operator, and both bros are machinists) but the thumbs on the company Yanmar's just look like one tree in the grip when it hits another and he'll bend them up like a pretzel.. That thing Chris designed... I think you'll F'up the Yanmar before you'll damage it..
@southernhomesteadtransformatio Жыл бұрын
You are 💯 % correct on that, this one is Stout! 💪

That will take a little time to master.

Much easier than the fixed thumb on the 250.....That needs the bucket to be brought to the thumb....much easier with hydraulics ......but the 250 can lift 10 times more... :-)

i heard once that one was not to use Teflon tape on hydraulic lines due to possible entry into the system and creating blockages. im not sure how true that is but is there some type of a paste to use to seal lines or i think there may be a type of sealant for the threads. what do you think? Loctite 542 Thread Sealant: Hydraulic Assembly. you can KZfaq it. it's used on new holland combines.
@southernhomesteadtransformatio Жыл бұрын
I use both tape and thread sealant or "pipe-dope" as I call it. They both have their preferred applications...sometimes used in tandem. I have heard that it's better to use one or the other both ways...I personally feel tape is better on hydraulic applications...

what clinder and hoses would i need to attach this to a mini excavator
@southernhomesteadtransformatio5 ай бұрын
Cylinder would be specific to your machine as the piston length can't be shorter or longer so hose length is proportional to that...

Does the bucket not need a back pin? It looked like it was missing but could be my eyes. Awesome setup sir. Very nice
@southernhomesteadtransformatio Жыл бұрын
The bucket has 2 positions for the rear pin (chris's design) and I have it in the lower spot.

As an aside a member of our Brewery staff has just got back from Texas and their GoPro was as useless in the head as yours are. Surprised you do not have a copper mallet!
