Hey thanks for your video. I just picked up an old Peugeot 308 1.6 petrol (2009) for my girlfriend to learn to drive in. It came with the P0014 and depollution fault. I was about to change the solenoid but when I checked the spark plug reservoirs 2 of them were full of oil. I have just purchased a new rocker gasket and will use your video to help when it arrives. I was worried it might be the head gasket at first. Did you find out more about the white sludge? Was it the head gasket? Thank you
@mrfxr16954 ай бұрын
Thanks, take it easy and will be all good. White sludge was worrying for a start, but I noticed that was coming and going ( it would show on underside of oil cap as well). Apparently there engines can condensate within timing chain housing if ruin on short journeys. On longer runs moisture will evapurate completely. Apparently it is normal. I've had no other issues with it Regards to p0014, it could be that exhaust solenoid is just clogged up. It is very sensitive on oil. Wrong viscosity or old dirty oil can cause issue. Cleaning solenoid valve and changing oil and filter often sorts it

Great video. If I guess you desided that exessive oil consumption was from these gaskets? -and: did this change make the change on that? We have same engine on our Citroen Gran Picasso, and it drinks nowadays abt 2-3 litres yearly, on 10-15kkm driving.
@mrfxr169511 ай бұрын
It halved oil consumption for me, these engines still use fair amount of oil even when everything is good

Really good video. But you didn’t show how to remove the fuel line and I’m not sure how to remove it
@mrfxr16957 ай бұрын
There should be a plastic retaining clip ( white if I remember correct) that has to be released, just be careful not to lose it if it comes all the way out

Thanks. Do you need to depressure the fuel like before removing it?
@mrfxr16957 ай бұрын
@@psr1133 not really, it's a low pressure feed pipe. The only thing to keep in mind, after reconnecting you'll have to turn ignition key to contact position (without cranking engine) to power fuel supply pump so it can purge the air Happy New Year

It is always a good practice to disconnect when you're doing any sizable work on the engine, especially that engine( it will give you more room for work)

would leaky cover gasket result in blueish fumes coming out of the exhaust when accelerating?
@mrfxr169511 ай бұрын
Probably not, bluish smoke is generally caused by burning engine oil. Either piston rings are worn, could be head gasket, turbo issue, pcv valve, engine oil level too high... If only present at start up, then I would suspect valve stem seals It all depends on amount of smoke and how often it happens Sometimes bad ignition and overfueling can make unburned fuel to cause smoke on heavy acceleration
@antanasmaciulskis845411 ай бұрын
@@mrfxr1695 thanks for replying. I know for sure I overfilled it with oil by mistake, its more than full right now, so that might be causing the excess amount of smoke
@mrfxr169511 ай бұрын
Please reduce the oil level to below max mark on dipstick, it can cause you long term issues with the engine.

Hi, I'm not sure if I understood it correctly. Smoke on start up that clears away could be failed valve stem seals. Usually issues with vvt would result in engine fault codes. Have you run diagnostics, any codes?
