I've decorated cakes for many a year and NEVER have I thought to use the same skill and paint it onto Ornaments. I have about 6 boxes of the old fashioned glass bulb ornaments that bought at a yard sale that are setting in the top of my Craft closet because I didn't know what I wanted to do with them. Now I do!!!! Thank you!!!!

I used this type of technique on my nieces wedding cake doing a free hand copy of the lace on her wedding gown. You can do it with royal icing and alcohol/ lemons or almond flavoring on the cake it really is not difficult and the result. Is gorgeous and different. The reception venue owners told my sister the cake would of cost $1,000.00 from bakery and they loved it.

I love how the pulled paint lets some of the ornament peek through, leaving a nice tinge to the flower - beautiful!

Thank you for sharing all of these wonderful ornaments with us. I just love how they look and when I am up in Dublin I will see if I can find the items I need to make my own. They look wonderful . I personally make hand quilted ornaments and I find them good therapy for my left hand. In major accident in 2009 but to matter worse doctor severed 2 main arteries to my heart and I died on the operating table. Luckily for me there were 2 vascular doctors in the operating room next door and came running when the code went out for help. I have lost about 95% use of my left arm but I find making these ornaments helps to keep it moving. I can't wait till I can make my own. I am now living back home in Ireland as I was born and raised but lived in the USA since I was 21 now I home and have time on my hands. Looking forward to making these. FYI...you can use any 3D paint for brush embroidery! I even used it on fabric tote bags for Christmas presents one year! Great ornament project!
