In 2015, the historic "1,000 Year Flood" damaged the buildings at Cypress Gardens where a popular fossil show ran for many years. Finally, after seven long years, the Cypress Gardens Fossil Festival is BACK! Paleontologist Ashby Gale set out to film the epic return of GIANT megalodon teeth, museum quality shark teeth, dinosaur fossils, Mosasaurus teeth, and rare fossils collected in South Carolina. Oh, and the entire festival takes place where the infamous lake scene in "The Notebook" was filmed. Pretty cool!

Awesome footage, Ashby! Sorry I missed the show. Fun fact: Cypress Garden's was also a filming location for the movie production "Swamp Thing" (1982). My family hosted one of the assistant special effects assistants that is a family friend. Learned much about film production during that time.

@@CharlestonFossilAdventures He was with us for about 12 weeks. Another fun fact was concerning the burning lab scene in the movie which brings about Holland's transformation into Swamp Thing. In the first shot, the burn did not look good, so the director had the lab rebuilt and filmed a second time. This took 36 hours to redo. Film production is anything but easy.

@@C6TTiX Ha! I love it. Reminds me of the scene in Deliverance where Burt Reynolds goes over the waterfall in the canoe. The producers wanted to swap him out with a dummy for the stunt, but Reynolds said he didn’t want it to look like “a dummy going over a waterfall” so he did the stunt himself. Afterwards, he asked the filmmaker what it looked like, and they said: a dummy going over a waterfall! 😂
