Award-winning director Joe Wright envelops moviegoers in a symphony of emotions with music, romance, and beauty in Cyrano, re-imagining the timeless tale of a heartbreaking love triangle. A man ahead of his time, Cyrano de Bergerac (played by Peter Dinklage) dazzles whether with ferocious wordplay at a verbal joust or with brilliant swordplay in a duel. But, convinced that his appearance renders him unworthy of the love of a devoted friend, the luminous Roxanne (Haley Bennett), Cyrano has yet to declare his feelings for her - and Roxanne has fallen in love, at first sight, with Christian (Kelvin Harrison, Jr.).

1:03 he’s such a good actor in just this moment. Christopher Plummer won a Tony for this role and Peter Dinklage could win awards for it now. Looking forward to this movie

Well there's that recent stink he made about Disney and their Snow White live action movie. He got the "7 dwarves" aspect of the movie cut, costing 7 other actors their jobs on that movie. He's effectively being called a hypocrite and "roll hog" for his interference there.

He's kind of an asshole in real life... recently he commented on the disaster that was season 8 of GOT and all of the backlash it recieved by saying "I think the reason there was some backlash about the ending is because they were angry at us for breaking up with them. We were going off the air and they didn't know what to do with their Sunday nights anymore. They wanted more, so they backlashed about that. They wanted the pretty white people to ride off into the sunset together. By the way, it's fiction. There's dragons in it. Move on," The writing for season 8 was hot garbage and he's a complete douchebag for those comments.

@@grantmalone But is the more "progressive" route to take to avoid the issue entirely by bending the characters to be 7 regular size people dwarves, or to let others in the industry be where Disney would have need of them? I'm not saying this myself, but the internet had viewed it as a gatekeeping maneuver on his part it would seem.

Interesting that as I heard of this by radio I was unimpressed, but the actors make it so compelling. It’s Dinklage & Bennet that bring all the emotion to life. Add music from the National and I’ll be there… which is a big deal since romance & musicals are not my jam.

A Knights Tale comes to mind. I’ve used lines from that movie so many times I think it became my own. In the time before social media became popular, poetry was what many of us used to woo a lady. Great times 🙂

Really want to see this. It’s too infrequent for classic literature to make it to the big screen. Rarer still for it to be portrayed well and so far Dinklage is coming off as a wonderful Cyrano. Hope to see this on the big screen when it comes out.

It’s just that Peter Dinklage is a very good looking guy and the story is supposed to be about the ugliest guy in the village falling in love with the most beautiful girl. I mean it’s definitely analogous but there are key differences and it will be interesting to see if they integrate them in their own way or if they just wanted to cast Dinklage and they end up being lazy about it. I don’t really care either I’m just on drugs and feel the need to share my every thought with every other person in the world rn.

Why on earth are so little theaters showing it with so little showtimes?? At least that’s the case in my area…And my theaters typically show all movies with a variety of times. But for this movie, I’m going to have to drive 35 minutes to see it. Anyone know what’s up with that…? From the reviews I’ve seen (as of Friday Feb. 25), the movie is doing well, so it’s not like it’s a ginormous flop. I’m just so disappointed and confused. 😞

Dinklage said something to the effect that the nose was just a physical manifestation of his “otherness” or something to that effect that he didn’t feel was necessary in this interpretation.

In what reality is this young black guy of no particular handsomeness considered more appealing visually than the obviously charismatic Peter Dinklage? This bit of miscasting ruins what could have been an interesting film (although the rather wan Roxane isn’t doing it any favours either). Turning Cyrano into a vehicle for Dinklage was a kind of genius. The casting of the other principle roles lets him down.
