Hey Josh, Great video. One year at the ASSA national championships Eley had a challenge that involved that bench rest target. We shot it prone at 50 yards using a sling and a scope. I had “one of those days” and fired a 2450 with 17 centers. It turned out that it was high score for the match and won a brick of Eley Tenex. A humbling moment to finish ahead of some world class shooters. Your videos are some of the best I’ve seen. Well done.

It's nice to watch someone else have their heartbeat showing up in the reticle and scratching their head about why one shot randomly went low when the next went high when you know for a fact both trigger pulls and holds were good. Misery loves company brother! :D Good stuff though - now its time for some Iosso on that barrel!

Thanks for shooting the full 25 at the ARA CARD. It was not a perfect score but it was damn good. You’re only human. I’ve had similar results with my CZ457 MTR with SK ammo. It will be a great day if I ever score 2500.

Great video. Glad to see you're actually human and not just a machine that can hit quarter inch targets at 200 yds! ;) I shoot 50 yds BR style paper targets pretty often with my CZ 457 Pro Varmint (16 inch barrel) and I have to say on a good day I get pretty close to what you shot in the video. The video change up was so cool . It’s like you were walking with a purpose to go burn it down lol . Great video and yea I understand the paper target thing . I shot a bench match the other Sunday and I’m just not used to it anymore, plus my rifle is specific built for prs/nrl

Excellent review. Very professional. Use of camera thru scope was extremely interesting. You are an excellent benchrest shooter. Anyone that posts a video on rifles and accuracy needs to follow your benchmark. Don't show me groups anymore. Put up 25 targets and use the camera type scope so WE can observe your aim point. The point of impact is effected by many variables and your video proves that the man behind the gun is not a major issue on these 25 shots.

Hey Josh I’m pleased to see the CZ back , the Vudoos nice but the CZ will always be my favourite , I’ve fitted a Timney trigger to my 455 , changed the stock to a Boyd thumb hole fitted pillars and fully floated the action , we’re out of lockdown now so I took it to the range to try it out an Mate what a difference it made to the accuracy , thanks for the video Josh I look forward to them all but prefer the CZ content , Aussie Steve.

Nice work. It would be great to see an edit from your upcoming competition - good luck. Re the CZ. I think a lot of people (myself included) love the CZ content as it is a more achievable base - especially here in Australia. From memory a Voodoo barrelled action here down under is $3200! Crazy!

Don't you hate it when you are hitting 100's then out of no where you get a flyer! Welcome to my world of bench rest! I have videoed myself several times from different angles just to see if it is me. 9 times out of 10 it is the ammo or a change in the environment. Very impressive ARA card being that you were not using a built benchrest gun on a 1 piece benchrest designed to be used with a 3" flat benchrest stock, and obviously a low powered scope and no wind flags. I have shot many ARA cards in competition and being that it scores down it is truly a hard card. Good shooting!

The first flyer on the sighter target seems typical for me. I almost always send the first round in a cold barrel off a bit.

I shot my first ever 22 bullseye match last Monday I actually had fun and I'll go again, it's more relaxing than I expected. Still like shooting NRL22 though I'm not giving that up. Waiting for the next Vudoo video!!🙂

Nice video Josh. A buddy of mine set up a CZ457 similar to yours... Lilja, Timney, but in an MDT XRS chassis. I got to shoot it and I just don't know how it can get any better. I was also able to try a Manners 457, but it did not have the cheek riser and it desperately needs them, but the feel of the stock is quite remarkable, If anyone here has expenseve taste in stereo equipment, I'll likely be selling a piece to get into one of these :)

Worst edge scoring makes it very hard. Try the USBR target it's even more difficult. Josh, I got my new Benchrest rifle. It's the challenge of it that I like. Well done

Shoot a Bergara B14r @ 50-yards using Eley Team. Bi-Pod and a Calwdell rear bag. HAWKE OPTICS 6x24x56 scope. Shot a 2450/2500 with one flyer.

You said it yourself, a couple vids ago. Maybe it needs cleaning? If you can drive nails at 180, it should be able to clip the centers for the most part. That tiny dot is for machine rests anyway. Worst target I hate is matchsticks at 50.

Thanks for all your great tips and videos. I see that you have the Arca rail system. I recently purchased the setup but I can't find an example of anyone installing it on a synthetic stock like on my CZ457 lrp. How did you install yours? Can't find a single example on the internet. I can't drill into mine until I see how it's done. Any recommendations??

Those cards are tough. Moving from one bulls to the other in under 20-25 minutes. I always blame the ammo

I know you head spaced your barrel, have you tried separate you ammo by rim thickness?I know with club and team it makes a difference, I'm working on getting 3 different lot # of tenex .

By the way, the audio is a little bass heavy or muffled compared to some of your other recent vids. Have you changed your audio equalization?

What was your score? It looked pretty good for your equipment. You don’t have adequate support (although I enjoy shooting with a bipod and bag.) Your optic is not powerful enough - you really need at least 40X if your rifle is precise enough for 1/16” differences in aim at 50 Yds; 50x - 55x is best. A benchrest shooter would have 4 wind flags down the line of fire. A top ARA rifle would be in a benchrest stock, have a 55x Nightforce scope, and a tuner on the barrel that was optimized to the ammo.

Some good accuracy even if a little dirty but agree find the old bench rest a little slow to steel, paper is a patient mans game…never thought to blame my dog for everything mine only gets done for crop dusting…

Vudoo vs CZ 50/100/200 paper targets. It's time to shine or whatever. Make sure both guns are clean. Shoot the falling shoots and take it to the limits.

Hey Josh - what lot do you have the most success with for the Eley match?

I noticed your scope, any many precision guys scopes, has a very long front cylinder to it. Is this aftermarket? Is this how the scope comes or it it added on to assist in some way? I'm new to shooting, just curious!

What scope you using?

Bench rest favors equipment more than user. The more the shooter is taken out of the situation, the better the results.

have you ever sorted your ammo by rim thickness and weight?

Keep in mind that most benchrest competitors are shooting off of a benchrest specific shooting rest, some of which cost as much as the MTR base gun. Shooting a full card off a bipod is bananas (and seems very boring).

What wss the score? Did I miss that?

Did you say what your score was. I couldn't read the scores on the bottom. Probably would have been a 2500 on a factory target.

2,3 and 6 look like 50's to me. I would have to plug those 3 if I was shooting against you.

I have been shooting ABRA for several years and can send you some of those targets, you will like them because they score to the friendly side but are a challenge for sure. I posted a video on KZfaq, Introduction to ABRA, check it out a let me know about the targets and I will send you several.
