CZ457 LRP - Aguila .22 Interceptor - Ammo Test - 50 Yards
In this video I will test Aguila .22 Interceptor , 22 long rifle rimfire ammunition to see how well this ammo performs in my CZ 457 LRP. I have installed a flat blade Timney CZ 457 precision Trigger.
The test will be compressed of 40 shots in total all fired from the prone at 50 yards. I will be recording shot data including (SD, ES, Highest, and lowest velocities, as well as the average velocity) of the ammunition tested. every test begins with 20 fouling shots from a clean barrel bore, followed by 4 - 5 shot groups
parts used: Timney trigger, amazon arch rail custom fit, Bipod Factory Carbon Fiber BIPOD, Vortex Precision Rings, Vortex Razor HD GEN I

211 in progress! 😉 At 1541fps x 40gr your fastest round provided 210.97 lbs muzzle energy - I'd call that 211lbs. That's *_HOT_* for a .22LR!

Great video, Aguila is great ammo, they actually supply ammo for the Mexican military, they make excellent 22lr ammo. If you can get your hands on it, you should try their super maximum which is 30 grain and also the super extra, which should be the cheapest price wise of the bunch, but still very effective. The match ammo you tried is probably the least effective.

Who needs expensive 22 WMR when you can have this. Not to rub it in, but down here in the States these will set you back about $7 to $8 per 50 round box. I got to talking with my small local shop(one man operation) that mainly specializes in optics(but also sells ammo). He's going to check with his distributor to see if he can get it even cheaper for me if I order a large quantity.

Informative video, thank you! I personally have never gotten great precision out of any hyper velocity ammo, regardless of ammo brand or of the rifle I shoot it in. Usually about 1" at 50 is about the best I can do maybe slightly better. Those aquilas look like they are shooting pretty well for what they are.

I personally don't shoot hv 22lr in my target rifles. If I feel the need for speed it's 22wmr or 17hmr. Thanks for another great Sunday fix Ryan.

I have interceptors, I like them, similar to CCI velocitor, powerful lr rounds. They smell funny. I like them with my browning 20" lever action. Pretty serious ft.lbs

260j energy, that fantastic, my opinion for that, need longest barrel, and your group must be better. It’s recommendation for this aguila interceptor.

Nice video. I have the same rifle and it shoots great. I shoot out to 250 yards. Believe it or not mine will shoot the Federal Auto Match bulk pack ammo really well. Yes the stuff that is $19 at Wal-Mart . It just depends on the lot of ammo, some is better than others. The best all around load mine likes is the GECO match ammo. Like all 22's if you listen to the gun it will tell you what it likes!

At 1500fps that's some pretty accurate ammo.

Nice long distance hunting round. Not for target shooting. I have only one .22LR rifle, a Winchester 9422. I don't have a chronograph and would like to see the speed out of my rifle as I see most other rifles tested it run around 1400fps to 1430fps. Yours do good at 1500fps. Did you lap the barrel? The best group with my rifle and the Interceptor at 50 meter is 16mm but at 100 meter it was 42mm on a windy day. Good for hunting.

I used to only clean after a couple hundred but for tests I clean the bore.

Quiet impressive for HV ammo. I wonder what sort of groups you could get if you sorted by weight and rim thickness?

Seems to be shooting well for the speed of it to me? I noticed your muzzle brake was venting to the side with this round, so I wonder how the recoil would be without it?

I don’t know but there was a bit of felt recoil like nothing I have ever felt from a 22lr before. It was acceptable as far as accuracy goes also would be a good little hunting round
