We were dead serious about that final... We knew that it was our only chance to win it. We didnt take greece for granted, knowing the fact that greece was the only team that had defeated us during group stage. Sadly we lost. Greece wanted it more and worked harder for it, also having some luck in between. Portugal won the european cup in 2016 the same way greece won in 2004, with hard work and some luck, but none of them were the best team of each tournament. Czech republic deserved to be on the final, in 2004 to be honest

@@hltds We lost it because our coach is / was an ass. He needed that slap right in the first match to change the team, removing the old guys from the team, and using FCPorto players that had "just" won the european champions league. Towards the end of the tournament, those players were tired, we had very intense games against England and the Netherlands, and we just weren't able to counter the greeks and create opportunities that would allow us to win the finals. All in all... I think Scolari wasn't arrogant... just an idiot. In the end, I'm still struggling to understand why he kept Pauleta in the team so many minutes.

The path to the finals was conquered fairly, and the final itself was won without a hitch. Blame our adversaries for their lack of competence. Either way, there's nothing you can do about it. Secondly, I never said Greece's victory in the euro wasn't just or fair; our coach lacked competence, and it could've been different if he didn't; but it wasn't my intention to diminish the greek's merit in winning, in fact I'm quite happy for them, but even happier for winning the euro in France with a more or less decent coach a decade later.

Also LOOK at 9:52 their reaction after missing the chance, like miserable, poor, helpless people clutching their heads desperately, look when Greek players lose the few chances they get, they applaude eachother and yeah, keep focused at what they do. I see superstar players STINKING of fear and desperation in the Czech team, and I see noname players struggling like heroes in the Greek team, correct me if Im wrong. Any sport is both physical, and mental. Maybe more mental than physical in all cases, but the mental fight is almost invisible.

You're getting it all wrong. France and Portugal just weren't able to counter the greeks tactics. And not only those teams, Spain and Russia had lots of trouble as well. I think the Czechs were the only team that really manaced the greeks. And that's not a matter of respect. It's just because Czech Republic was the team with the best midfield and attack combined back then. Greece spent the whole match suffering, and when the game reached extra time, Czech players were really tired and Greece took advantage of it. Ironic, but this reminds me of the Euro 2016 final match between France and Portugal. Same story with different intervenients.

@@ruizinho7225 absolutely spot on and im Greek. The Czechs dominated and in extra time after the Greeks weathered the storm they started attacking in extra time and the rest is history. When Dellas scored that goal that was one of the best moments of my life. Better than the final the ecstasy had to be seen to be believed in Greece

Because Collina was assigned at the opening game that was Greece vs Portugal and for some reason there was a rule that didn't allow him to be the ref of the final because it was again between Greece and Portugal, if any of these two teams wasn't in the final, the Collina would be the ref for the game
