I have the D-6 as well, the explanation for the settings pr0, pr1, and prD are actually found on the pdf manual on the SMSL website. So too is the driver for Windows computers. IIRC, the new dual AKM chips are from their new/rebuilt factory after the last one burnt down. In fact, the new Topping E30 II (Mk2) DAC also uses the same dual AKM chips. (There is also a new L30 II (Mk2) Amp to go with the new E30 II)

I like some of the SMSL stuff. I've heard the VMV DACS which are very good... and I have a secondary audio setup for Gaming, Movies, KZfaq and iMac hooked up to a SU-9n / SH-9 Stack and it's excellent for the price

The 8channel dac thing matters because they parallel the channels to improve linearity. I read a paper on it decades ago but forgot most of it. In the diy community people were literally stacking Phillips TDA 1545 chips 8 high to make these supposedly really nice sounding dacs.

FWIW, in the product description and diagrams over at Amazon they claim that the 4.4mm headphone jack on the c200 is balanced. I enjoyed the review. Thanks.

DO200+AO200+HO200 FTW. DO200 is truly balanced, louder out of the XLR outputs vs balanced. Cheaper, but doesn't offer any headphone output.

You have to go in developer options in Android to enable LDAC if you're going to use this Bluetooth codec. iPhones don't support LDAC nor AptX.

Great video question I have a SMSL DO 9 PRO great from Bluetooth , but I try to use MQA from cd player no work . I use optical from my Yamaha cd 303 to the DAC. 😢😮😂

I can't find a review that actually use the volume control function. I would be very happy to just know how it sounds and how the DACs handle the volume control. Is it through DSP or is an actual chip-volume solution?

I just manually adjusted it and used a bit of flair to extend some elements. I am in no way an artist but when you do things like that its pretty easy.

C200. Although, they're both close enough anyway. But the C200 is better, and much newer (Chi-fi is constantly outdoing itself every few months)

Curious on how you get along with C200 over rime. My mileage has been poor. First unit overheated and died on me. On my 2nd unit, and so far so good. 🤞

Note you can’t use trs to xlr adapters on the D6 because the holes are too close together and you cannot fit both adapters inside the unit (bad design)

Just get a trs cable to xlr, it’s not a bad design you just gotta buy the right product. That’s what I did and it works perfectly in my set up.

I used trs to trs from the d-6 to the Topping L50. The matching SMSL amp for the D-6 is the DA-6. However, the amp only has speaker outputs.

I still use a first generation SMSL M-300. And this mouse cinema for the many settings that probably only SMSL developers understand has been very bad since the beginning. Apparently the number of options has increased fivefold. So 5x worse than ever. SMSL always calls these boxes DAC. But in the end, of all they offer, they can't do anything really well.And I “just” wanted a good, affordable DAC. But with every new Generation SMSL leave ne more confused. But u dont need that. This is how you can be wrong.

No, I don't believe AKM makes a dual DAC However, Fiio, SMSL and many other companies employ dual AKM DACS in many of their products

recently picked up a dx-5 and noticed the background is darker. bass-line is tighter especially when using subwoofer and speakers. imaging is slightly more accurate and i notice the timbre of instruments has improved with my moondrop variations and Z12's which need similar power. So yes. DAC's do matter but paying for a mediocre headphone amp on a 2-in-1is not the way to go. Iwii reviews says the midrange is awesome on the MkII and unless you have an expensive speaker setup in a less ambient noise and well damped + private room save your money.

It sounds like they don't really try to better implement the dac chips themselves, otherwise I think they'd sound different. They should. What's the point of using an 8-channel dac chip if your not making it sound better than the 2-channel dac at half the price or less?
