Should use a straight edge or screed rail up the soldier course to allow for discrepancies between the edgings, something small enough to allow 2 cuts from one block while also having a decent sized cut.

what happens for the cuts? will the be tiny angles throughout the process?

@stimmo77 Thanks. I had a huge block of these pavers to do. Then this hurricane ruined it for me

How do you do the corner measurement? Do you cut into the brick? Thanks
@accaciagame1706 Жыл бұрын
Find the mid point of one length of your brick and from the mid point measure the distance to one of the two furthest corners. This should be the width in between of your string and the parallel grey paver. This is assuming the width of your brick is half the length like in this case and most case.

I turn my boarder round to single band, over lay, then mark my cut, right the way up the street. This is the cowboy way on the video

can u explain more ?
@danielquinn36592 жыл бұрын
@@bigcartoonyIIV I think he's saying he lays the blocks all the way to an edge. The lays the border blocks on top of the blocks he's used laid up to and edge. He marks in front of the temporary border onto the laid blocks. He then picks up the temporary border off the laid monoblock and is left with a straight line to cut with a stihl saw. Then you place the border into the space thst was just cut. That's what do anyway. It ensures each cut is the same. It's the best way if you don't have a block cutter

@@danielquinn3659 Thanks I fig it out. I ended up doing 3 walk ways this way, and 1 90 degree

My experience of cutting in on a herring bone like that is little fiddly cuts that aren't strong even after sand and whack. End result looks smart though
@markymark58083 жыл бұрын
That is not how you set heeonbone out. Your cuts are to small for one. You should use aa straight edge to space your blocks from your border to make sure your cuts are big enough. Also you don't need the strongline you should come off your border if it's straight no need for line.
@RM-jb1wo3 жыл бұрын
A good trick is lay a block on edge. That way you get nice sized cuts and the least wastage possible. If you put a line 215mm from the header running parallel to it. It should work out absolutely perfect
@iamadog3 жыл бұрын
you need to show how it's centered, so that the same size cuts are used on either side and top and bottom, otherwise that video was a waste of time and effort
@samsen2016 жыл бұрын
Nice and simple but what about the all 3 other corner edges? Would be nice to finish that or add another video clip to show how to go about that critical section.

How or where did you get the 140mm measurement? Thanks
@almason2535 жыл бұрын
The bricks are 4 inches by 8 inches. The distance out from the edging is found by using Pythagaros' theorem of half the brick or 4x4.
@andytran4090 Жыл бұрын
I’m so lost. I don’t know how it comes out 140 mm. c = sqrt (a^2 + b^2) = sqrt (4^2 + 8^2) = sqrt (80) = 8.94” If c/2 = 4.47”, which is equal 113.538 mm. I really don’t know how it comes out to 140mm?!?
@omarrojas664911 ай бұрын
That's nice, but you won't get even cuts on both sides, if you noticed where you started you have a full brick and in the other side you will have to me a cut.
@jamesdykstra63023 жыл бұрын
Now you need to learn how to screed because that sands all over the place.

Naa you'd get a 45 angle and lay your first block closer to the straight edge and then run a sthil all the way up so you don't have 1 million little triangle cuts which are gunna rattle in about 3 weeks ...
@honestychampmilland20073 жыл бұрын
Do not do it that way if you're looking for symmetrical edges
@geraldjones89252 жыл бұрын
Good catch. He went with the corner line and could have split the difference between the two corner lines.
