I just put these strings, phosphor bronze that is on my high-dollar Huss and Dalton acoustic guitar!!! so far I'm blown away........ I mean I know it takes a couple days to really break the strings in but upon putting them on I was instantly blown away!!! I've used the exp's many of times and they last a really long time and also I bend and play the crap out of the strings even then they still last a while and keep a good sound........I was introduced to the xt by a guy at my local music store as I was going in to buy D'Addario phosphor bronze exp but I'm glad he introduced me to these! they sound killer!

My son secretes toxic acid from his fingers. Lol. I just put a set on his guitar. I haven’t found anything that touches elixir at this point. I played d’adarrios for years. Hope these new treated strings are good. Dean Markley Blackhawks are pretty kickass too. They sound and feel closest to non coated D’adarrio. But elixir durability is still king. 🤘🏻

Elixirs are tinty garbage. Yes they keep their trashy tone for a long time. That's not a good thing. No serious players play elixir for a reason. They have ears that work.

is there a new set up required for a floating tremolo using same gauge as the XL's due to the tension difference?
@RockStarOscarStern6343 жыл бұрын
Nah, same tension.
@uria7022 жыл бұрын
I would think it would. Switching between any type of string will change the tension and therefore change the setup. In this case, it might not be drastic enough of a difference to alter the setup. There’s only one way to find out though.

Just wondering. From everything they’ve said about the strings and everything I’ve heard and read, they are basically a coated NYXL set. So, if they take a set of NYXL’s and go through the extra step of coating them, why are they three dollars less expensive than the regular NYXL’s? I love my NYXL’s. But if I can get a set of these and they are basically the same only coated, then why would I spend the extra money for the regular set of NYXL’s?
@drum944 жыл бұрын
The XT Electric sets are not just an XT treated NYXL set. They feature the NY Steel cores and Plain steel wire found in NYXL. However the wrap wire is the same Nickel Plated Steel found in our standard XL Sets...but it is treated with the XT coating...as are the plain steel strings. Hopes this clears things up !
@TheAxe4Ever4 жыл бұрын
Devin Hasenflue Thank you! Yes, I found this out after I posted this. I went ahead and tried a set of XT’s and I must say, I was very impressed with how quickly they stretched in a settled into tuning, just like the NYXL’s. Also, I was never a fan of coated strings, but these are very natural feeling. But for now, I think I’ll stick with my beloved NYXL’s. Best string EVER in my opinion. Love the feel and tone.

XT wrap fire, not XL. i believe it's called XT micro coating.
@jonathancollins90573 жыл бұрын
I believe they are using the same wrap wire as the XL line but with the added carbon content in the plains and steel cores as the NYXLs, but also not the NY wrapping that the NYXLs use. I also think the "XT" stands for "Times Three".
@aek40183 жыл бұрын
@@jonathancollins9057 They are just coated NYXL's (not that bright due to the coating) - same core wire (NY steel), fusion twist technology for the plain strings, just a different wrap wire (XT coating). Either way, Elixirs are far superior when is comes to longevity. Nothing comes even close.

DR Veritas are the same concept. Coated core with out coating the wraps. They were ok but were pretty worn in by day 10 and dead a week later. The coated core only protects just that. If everything else is exposed to hand perspiration, the coated core becomes useless. GHS is my favorite string company. I love the Americana sets. Uncoated and I usually get 6 weeks or more out of them with playing every day for an hour.
