Watchign this in 2023 before running this one-shot for my Nephew and his friends as a way to see if they want to play DND. They currently get together and just like collaboratively tell a story and roll dice but with no real rhyme or reason to it. Definitely a good way to play if that works for you - but im going to show them this to see if doing something with a bit more structure might interest them too.

@OneCritWonder
@OneCritWonder 3 жыл бұрын
@@andrewm1058 Relax and have fun and your players will too. The whole point of this adventure is to be light hearted and silly and so you shouldn't worry too much about running it. Become familiar with how to read monster stat cards, you don't need to memorise them just know what all the stuff means. Dont be afraid to look stuff up if you need.

I just finished DMing for the first time. I chose this because it was short and easy. In the first round of the final encounter my brother got onto the platform and managed to snatch the wand away from Noke... and that was that. Noke left with his tail between his legs and my sis managed to turn Shinebright back into himself.

I plan on taking this adventure and combining it another another of mine. So pretty much Ahmend Noke is actually a mindflayer that polymorph herself into a copy of Ahmed Noke after killing the actual Ahmed Noke. I'm using a different town called Oakhurst which is suffering from political issue and are being attacked by horrors from the forest that surrounds Oakhurst. So pretty much the party will meet the sheep while traveling into Oakhurst and then rest of that adventure will happen until the point where they defeat the copy of Ahmed Noke and then the copy of Ahmend Noke uses the wand and it explodes and turns into its original mindflayer form. Then the weaken mind flayer blows the house up and makes a run for it into the forest. Now the main adventure is where this female mind flayer is trying to summon Orcus, the demon prince and lord of undead, into existence so the mind flayer can attempt to cause mass destruction. But when the mind flayer summons Orcus at dawn the sky turns bright red and a meteor comes crashing down into the hills nearby Oakhurst and once the players goes to see what was the meteor was. The party will see the same mindflayer on its knees in front of Orcus but the party will watch Orcus just take his wand and obliterate the mind flayer for trying to enslave Orcus. Then they watch Orcus fly over Oakhurst and spawn hordes of skeletons to destroy it and then it teleport away. So pretty much the players will have to stop Orcus and this will be a potential campaign. So this is my first time dming and I was wondering if this was easy to run? Is my campaign idea to far out there or is it fine? Thanks for the help and Nice video.

The main thing to keep in mind is how the player characters might react to these events--specifically, making sure you take care not to railroad them or make them feel like they have no agency. Will they feel like they're having an impact on the story or just along for the ride? For instance: when the mindflayer escapes by blowing up the house--you have to consider what the group might do that puts the mindflayer in a position where it can't escape and how they mind feel if they're unable to stop those events no matter what they do. So long as everything is mostly balanced, the players don't feel like their actions have no impact, and you treat everyone fairly it should go great!
@jacobolsen8022
@jacobolsen8022 5 жыл бұрын
@@OneCritWonder Thanks a lot of the reply. I will make sure to not railroad them and I really do believe player actions matter. I'm gonna keep things going slow so players can lvl up when they do fight orcus

Is this a module that is available on Crit20, or was it all imported independently? I am a relatively new DM, only ran 1 small one-shot on Crit20, but have been preparing to run this for a group of friends I play with online. Wondering if this module is something publicly available. I have the one-shot printout and can import maps, etc., but wondering about figures, etc.
@OneCritWonder
@OneCritWonder 2 жыл бұрын
The module is not pre-built on Roll20 unfortunately. The GM for this episode imported maps and tokens and then built the NPC sheets. I've also run this one-shot myself and built it up in Roll20 from scratch. Its not actually that much work since there are only really the two scenes and a couple of NPC sheets.

My favorite oneshots are likely ones I've written myself, I can tailor to the group a little better and invent stuff on the fly easier. Wild Sheep Chase is one of the easier (and funnier) things out there that aren't mine for me to run though. Can you repeat your last question? With the typo, I'm not sure what you meant.
