My favorites are: 3. Magic Missile. 2. Magic Missile cast with a 2nd level slot. 1. Magic Missile cast with higher slots.

Stunned Eldritch Blast was left on the cutting room floor. Thought for sure it would've at least been in the ATK spell section. Also, no Mage Hand for the utility slot?

Crazy thing about Tiny Hut is that it got super buffed in 5e. Used to be it could be blown away by a strong enough wind, and both weapons, missiles, and spells could pass through. But now it's practically Resilient Sphere for up to ten people, without concentration, for eight hours, as a ritual.

Another use for the resilent sphere would be for control. Sphere the BBEG until you have take care of the minions. Or decide and conquer so you dont have to split your resources and can hang up on 2 enemies one at a time

You can do the same with wall of force, except the BBEG doesn’t get a save.

Imagine the hilarious scenario if you have a DM willing to allow taunting via skill checks, then you have someone cast Otiluke's Resilient Sphere on the taunter, and another caster cast an illusion spell on the sphere to make it invisible. The player who taunted just standing there under the main bad guy, getting pounded with everything and taking zero damage. Main baddie seething with frustrating at the taunt and inability to hurt this guy. Or terrified because he can't hurt the guy.

we even use Leomund's Tiny Hut for short rests just to be safer and while we are playing in hell currently it gives us a short break from the heat while we are taking any rest

Waitwaitwait, you can cast a second Action-requiring spell with Action Surge? I thought the usual restriction on "one Bonus Action-speed leveled spell and one Cantrip per round" still applied? Also, Otiluke's Resilient Sphere is absolutely sadistic if you cast it on an opponent high up the mountainside on a steep incline...

Action+action is fine. Action+bonus action is not. Haste and action surge allow you to cast 2 leveled spells in 1 turn since they both give an extra action. Rules as written is weird sometimes

@@elevenfold11x70 Haste don't let you cast spells. Action that you gain from Haste is limited only to things stated in the spell description: Attack (one weapon attack only), Dash, Disengage, Hide, or Use an Object action. But yeah, with Action Surge you can cast two action spells.

Honestly the rules about bonus action spells is really weird because it's only in the bonus action section of the PHB and it is specifically about what happens if you cast a leveled spell as a bonus action. I think rules as written it actually stops you from casting any spell, cantrip or otherwise, as a reaction if you use your bonus action.

The rule is not that you can only cast one leveled spell per turn or per round, but rather, you cannot cast a leveled spell as a bonus action and another leveled spell as an action. However, if you gain a second action, you can use that to cast another spell. It's a weird quirk in the rules, but that's how the design works.

You mention combining Tenser's Transformation with Steel WInd Strike. I don't think you can -- Tenser's Transformation says "Until the spell ends, you can't cast spells"

My paladin/ college of swords bard multi-class loves Tenser’s Transformation. Being able to spam defensive flourish once a round thanks to master’s flourish and add a smite on every attack really makes up for not being able to cast spells.

I have a variant human eldrage knight 8/war mage 12 build in mind who when he gets the 6th level slot he's getting that spell and that 50 Temp HP is insanely good for a gish caricature

@@everettmarsh-ackerman6884 Two words. Blade Singer. Just take it and have fun. You still have extra attack, plus more spell slots, more AC, bonus to concentration saves, speed, additional weapon damage and an ability to spend spell slots to reduce damage taken, that works during Transformation. Some of these bonuses last only for 1 minute and can be activated twice between short rests, but I think it's enough. On a downside, you won't get the ability to wear heavy armor (even if you take proficiency from somewhere else) and use two-handed weapons or shields. I also had an idea of Paladin 2/Warmage 18, which uses the Booming Blade for melee attacks instead of multiattack.

I think Eldritch Blast is better than Magic Missle for a force damage spell for the reason that people will build their class around EB, ala Sorlocks, but not really so with MM.

Eldritch Blast is warlock's iconic spell, yes. But if you select among all force spells for the most iconic one, I would also vote for MM. It's the only spell I know that don't require any attack roll or saving throw to deal damage. It's "iconic spell" nomination, after all.

The advantage of Magic Missle is that it just hits. Eldritch Blast may have better potential than Magic Missle, but Magic Missle is irreplaceable for guaranteed damage from a low level spell.

in addition to what has already been said, MM has been around since the beginning of the game where as EB has only been a thing since 3.5

MM has been around from the beginning of DnD while EB came in near the end of 3.5 and has only been a warlock spell the whole time.
