Күн бұрынThe beaches of Normandy were visited by British commandos to survey them. Two notable members of the COPP team were Scott-Bowdon and Ogden-Smith. They spent 4 days off of the Normandy coast in a mini submarine.
On D-day other members of COPP were in mini submarines to guide the fleet in.

thoroughly enjoyed that, if you have any more similar i wouldnt be disappointed we camped for 10 days near eastern end of omaha beach at l hypo camp and used your vids as guides ,beautiful area to visit let alone the histiory

Nice video - thanks for sharing their story. The idea of bombers dropping bombs on the Normandy beach seems too good to be true and it seems it was: some accounts say it was done, including Scott-Bowden's, but a post-D-Day report by scientist J.D. Bernal (who was involved in the Brancaster trials) says they never actually did it due to security concerns. Also, i'm sceptical about the claim they were meant to go to Sword Beach - the operation orders were very explicit about the route they had to take back to the UK, and it was based on leaving from near Port-en-Bessin - I can't imagine them being sent to Sword and then having to go back to Port-en-Bessin again ...
