I was in the Navy, over seas. My wife mailed me a sealed single of Hit em Up. I played it for all my homies on the ship, and we were stunned. IMO, nothing that hard had ever been recorded. Just listening to it, we knew someone would do something to Pac. Tupac was murdered before our ship made it back home to Cali. The 90’s was wild. I don’t think people know exactly how wild.

Puffy did that. He knew the song was only big on the underground east coast NY scene. Puff was a marketing genius and knew when and how to drop the song to spark the east coast west coast beef. Don't get me wrong, Pac is a legend but he did some really stupid things when he was alive and people paid the price and are still playing the price (Will Smith). He's a natural talented star and that's that. Rebel INS also suffered a lot because of the fact that he took out Deck's verse from Got My Mind Made Up. That would have given Deck's solo shot better chances especially when his shit got flooded and everything went away. Simply because it was marketed as a Tupac song.

Puffy put it out. It was a marketing tactic. Financially it was a brilliant move to ride the wave created by Pac being robbed and shot. Pac had the #1 rap album at the time. But ultimately the timing was wrong and the song became the catalyst for the two best MCs, once friends, to now become enemies.

When Pac was in jail, he initially thought ,"Who Shot Ya" was about him. Pac said in an interview that even if "Who Shot Ya" was made before he got shot, BIG should'nt have allowed it to be released after he (Pac) had just got shot (out of respect) since they were supposedly friends at the time. The only thing I didn’t respect about Big was that he put out several subliminal disses in 1997 (on Life After Death) after Pac had passed. If BIG dissed Pac when he was alive, then it would have been different. Further more After big died they cut stuff off it, him calling 2Pac "a faggot ass nigga" etc. THEN he decided to freestyle it on the radio in LA less than 6 months after, likely the reason he died. Dude was a coward all along, exactly what 2Pac was trying to say the entire time.
