I feel the null void being inconsistent makes sense, it probably isn't the most stable dimension.

I like how the Vulpimancer is docile enough to actually be a part of the group. Which means that some Vulpimancers have a chance to be not as aggressive as the ones we see when we meet Phil.

I do like how Animo remains at least kinda muscular through the rest of the franchise, even if it’s not as JACKED as he was here.

I like how in this episode Ben chooses to fight Pierce without the Omnitrix. It shows that it’s not just the watch that makes Ben a hero.

You know what I really liked too this day, that Kevin had the final line, and it was him pulling Ben out of the Nullvoid saying "It's to come home". It says a lot about his development just with that short line, Because imagine IG Kevin say that, or even Season 1 Kevin.

I was right, the null void is Ben 10 version of Australia. A harsh place where criminal got banished where wildlife was meant to kill them. Now a place where civilization appear

Later in the series Ben meets a huge Havoc Beast when he gets trapped in the Null Void again. 4. Lastly, jacked or not, Dr. Animo is no match for Max, he's basically Old Terminator.

I love episodes where Ben is put in Non-Omnitrix centered situations, really makes the whole "its not the watch that makes you the hero," speech from SotO. But also I do like how they incorporate stuff like the DNA repair function & the Self Destruct function in the season finales.

I wasn’t surprised that Max is alive, because of commercials spoiling it before this episode released. “Time to come home, Ben” Kevin has been in a dark place, in the past and, now, he’s being a brother to Ben always gets me. For me, that quote teared me up, when I was a kid. Kevin became my favourite since then.

Ngl, I miss jacked Animo, I wished he kept his gains in Omniverse. I doubt it would've changed how he was written in Omniverse much at all, since he never really fought by himself in UAF.

Personally I love how Ben gets some experience in a legitimate warfront before the Hybreed invasion here. Gives him all the more legitimacy as a leader going into it, which he may not have really needed, but it’s cool to see him get that last little bit of seasoning.

It's a pretty small detail in the grand scheme of things, but I like the way that this episode plays with the viewer's expectations by building up "D'void" and "The Wrench" as two seemingly legendary figures in a manner that retroactively makes perfect sense for the characters they turn out to have been the whole time, while also being just vague and mysterious enough for first time viewers, especially child-aged ones like I'm suspecting a lot of us were at the time not to be too likely to pick up on.

Hey, Kuro, about the Null Void 14:00 In the Reboot, there is a line said by The High Override that is relevant here. It's from the Inner-vasion special. When Vilgax and Ben went inside the Omnitrix to stop the Fulmini invasion, The High Override throws Vilgax into the Null Void, exclaiming "Perhaps the Null Void *between Dimensions* will suit you better". This could imply that the Null Void isn't actually a Dimension itself (like say, Prime, 23, Leggerdomain, etc), but instead the "space" between them. This would mean that it is something like "The Bleed" from DC. This actually perfectly fits with the Gen Rex crossover like you said, and it could open up for even more crossovers in the future where Ben could access other franchises via the Null Void. Similar to how Danny ended up in Ben's world thanks the Null Void in 5YL.

I've just realised another reason Ben might have not transformed is because Pierce accuses him of being a shapeshifter so if he transformed, Pierce wouldn't have trusted him at all

I would imagine the coloring differences for Ben’s Transformations could be from the Null Void. Much like Ben 23 having a different color filter to distinguish that universe from Ben 10’s, the Null Void could change the color scheme because of the lighting effects it has that’s different from Earth. It would be an “in-universe” explanation if nothing else.

I mean, Animo is basically a master of genetic manipulation and mutation. Its not to crazy to think that he could not only slow his aging but also give himself some crazy gains

I think Swoll Animo is perfectly fine. If nothing else you’re headcannon could be that he’s been handling animals long enough to basically build farmer muscles or maybe he injected himself with a mutagenic animal steroid.

Animo as D’Void would be juiced on crystal power, so him having a growth spurt tied specifically to that would make sense compared to when he’s back on Earth and not as tall, but still tall. His biology must have been effected from the Crystal Energy that he stayed buff for another year or so before his body was able to completely purge it from his system.

I like the little Omnitrix factoid thing where it says Dr. Animo got his power to directly control animals by working with Clancy, because it means they both gave something to each other when they were working together. Dr. Animo mutated Clancy into his advanced bug form (supposedly) by using his knowledge of mutation, while Clancy taught Animo how to mentally control animals through his ability to control insects. They both gave each other a new power that was derived from their own skill sets. :) Also, I love the allied vulpimancer! Wildmutt was always tied with XLR8 and Ditto as one of my top 3 favorite aliens, and it's a pleasant surprise to see that vulpimancers aren't limited to being violent, monstrous predators. This vulpimancer is a side/background character that I would love to see more of, or know more about.

The fact the Void was so hyped up as this huge threat only for him to be a guy Ben wiped the floor with on the regular back when he was ten is hilarious if you ask me.

I think he just got muscle from the energy. After he stopped getting energy, he just naturally atrophies back towards a skinny old man.

ok here me out, what if instead of Ben going to the null void or Gwen, Kevin volunteers making his claim "Ive spend more time in there than either than you" ben could say "sorry about that but you kinda deserved it" and we make it an episode about Kevin coming to terms with his childhood in the null void and later when they introduce max its Kevin who gets to team up with him, Max could try and be like a dad for Kevin and even drop the fact he knew Kevin's dad earlier in the story allowing them both to bond like he's truly a part of the Tennyson family, and when Kevin leaves returning to Ben and Gwen he tells them with a smile on his face "grandpa Is still alive".

This was the weirdest way to re-introduce Animo but you know what? I liked it!

I like what they did with Animo. I think it makes sense given where he ended up. And I appreciate that his physique doesn’t effect his schemes down the road, he still favors science over brute strength when he returns to Earth.

I personally like all of Animo's different appearances equally. Given that we know he goes full transhumanism in the future, conserving his head but using the gorilla body, it definitely doesn't feel like a stretch that he would have a period where he improved his body physically. Especially if you assume that he ended up in the null void while still skinny, but without access to his tech and not yet having enough skill to use psychic control.

Only being a 24 feels kinda weird, but I do agree. It is one of the most memorable and lovable episodes of Alien Force to me, it's always fun to hear some of the lines again

I dont believe the colors are actually "off" but they actually changed/altered it on purpose to match the setting more given the null void is red. Thats why they seem "warmer". Gotta say Still kinda said to see maxs arm not be the mechnical arm from this point like it does in the future still. They even hid it for a good amount of time behind ben, i feel they had plans but never went through with it.

I very much prefer Classic Null Void. The red sky works for this episode because Dr. Animo's been screwing with the dimension or whatever, but I'm sad that the environment doesn't feel as alive anymore.

This was my favorite episode of all time. I loved grandpa’s dramatic turn and reveal. And loved seeing animo come back too

If the Null Void does exist between multiple different universes/multiverses, its instability would make a lot sense. If the the various multiverses have even slightly different laws of physics, then the null void woyld be arbitrarily operating on different laws in different places.

I think that the reason chromastones default lasers are green is cause since he feeds off of energy and has nothing else to feed off of, he absorbs the energy from the omnitrix to use instead

I prefer the classic null void because it has an organic look, the land masses look like bones which is a cool aesthetic.

I actually love Alien Force/Ultimate Animo's appearance. He has both the smarts and the brawl to be strong as heck... and still loses to Max power. Ha. This was a good episode.

14:20 It’s funny you say that Kuro because *technically* the Highbreed Arc is just a larger scale version of Zs’Skayr’s operation back in Season 3 of the Original Series. Both of them come to Earth, take over some of the locals, discreetly send in their enforcers in the Earth so no one suspects a thing, mine for a material,and build a machine for their ultimate goal to gain more power and take over the world. So I think you should be saying that Animo’s plan is the same as *Zs’Skayr’s operation* now. The colors are warmer and muted probably intentionally, due to the influence of the different "sky" present in the Null Void.

Last time I was this early, an alien device had yet to do what it did

He really had a big glowup from Dr Animo to Dr CHADnimo in UAF. I kind of do wish he kept his physique in Omniverse.

15:30 was the first of Ben 10 alien force I ever saw. I never had cartoon network at home so I would catch classic Ben 10 in a random order when I could and loved it. When I saw this I didn't realise it was the same show until grandpa max turned up.

I personally LOVE Dr Animo's new role in this episode, taking the viewer's expectations of the old villain of the week trope and turning it into D.Void was just genius and it at least somewhat makes sense why he can have so much power here. I honestly do like the returning of Dr Animo in general for the series, and the way they portrayed and used him in this episode specifically I feel was really well done and I'm glad that in an episode with a lot of callbacks they had a returning (and pretty iconic) villain instead of creating a new one to be D.Void.

I think the only real way for Voided to be a perfect 25/25 would be for the episode to be longer/maybe a two parter. And Animo actually just kicking Bens ass. Showing some growth beyond his old habits but still falling back into them in a later fight. Making him an actual threat for the week between part one airing and part two airing. Maybe not even spoiling that the Null King was Animo outside of the VA being the same. I'm not sure I have a favorite Animo design though. Despite the username. He's a geneticist so his design changing and literally evolving as he experiments on himself just makes logical sense. Devoid being buff and staying buff is even more interesting since that likely means he actually put in work for it. Like 5 years of Null Void jail or something which is just an amusing thought. Though I'd of loved if come Omniverse they'd of had some throw away line or allusion to Animo dying as his buff self but somehow preserving his brain and making a newer not buff...yadda yadda to explain the design change.

One thing I do find myself occasionally wondering is, what would they have done if Ben won his fight with Pierce? Like, not necessarily humiliated him but just won? Also to be entirely fair I suspect Animo could've escaped but his goal was likely to make a permanent portal to the Null Void so he could rule both worlds.

I personally like to think that the reason why Chromastone lasers were green was because the Omnitrix gave chromastone some energy.

My personal head canon is that Dr. Animo's animal mind control helmet gave him some severe brain damage. That paired with all of his self-inflicted brain surgery definitely messed him up.

For this breakdown I think the one thing I should touch on was my comment back on the Big Chill episode when I discussed my Necrofriggian theory on the "vent mouth" this kind of showed that Big chill uses it in a way to fluctuate the temp of the blast/breath his inner absolute zero or even beyond that, so that was a cool minor conformation. But, the thing I really wanted to tackle was the energy we see being absorbed by Dr. Anino/D'void could be due to the minor recessive anodite gene that is in Ben's DNA as shown when we see ultimate Ben 10000, as Ben's Anodite Gene is not a dominate trait like it was with Gwen when she tapped into using magic to completely unlock her abilities. But my point is with Anodite's being energy beings i think they can also have a some sense towards energy and its movement, so while Ben or the audience can't really know, there might be an in-universe reason for what we see. Or Kuro's right and its just a detail to give the idea to the Audience as to how D'void is so strong. Also last thing, In Vilgax Attacks D'void is a boss for the null void again with is similar as here, not sure how though since he doesn't have this whole reactor.

I think it makes perfect sense for Ben to use Brainstorm again because he saw how effective that form was earlier.

I honestly do not remember this episode existing as a kid even though I knew Max didn’t die at the end of Max Out. It was funny watching the full illustrated story of Ben 10, hearing about D’Void and being so confused. Overall, a great episode. :)

I wanna know Animo's workout routine. The guy must be bored spending ages in the Null Void

Personally love the classic null void due to the rock formations looking like what coral reefs, or giant cells sticking to each other. The UAF and omniverse null void looks too similar imo, even if omniverse made the rocks have stuff growing on them, connecting rocks together like veins

My head cannon for chromastones lasers being green is that when he absorbs energy then the colors mix together to form the rainbow lasers. Or maybe if chromastone what’s the lasers to have a specific property he uses a form of chromatography to separate that specific laser from the rainbow one

I honestly like this interpretation of Animo and wished they kept this version of him a little longer.

This was the first episode of alien force I ever saw. despite being confused by the plot, I still remember it fondly

I do love how they change pace involving things like Ben's instinct of not using the Omnitrix in a situation where he can easily use it to beat Pierce since Ben wanted to gain Pierce's trust, not beat him and the 170 they did on Dr. Animo where they make him a completely different character yet still fit within the same realm of "Yeah, this is exactly what Dr. Animo would do". Different, yet believable.

god seeing that long cable attached to ben spiked my anxiety something fierce... something about having a long extension to one's body that you cant control, or worse defend... like what if it got snagged on something or a guardian got smart and attacked it to drag ben around?? anyway its cool seeing ben fight on his own, and NOT make a big deal about it... until omniverse i guess :/

God seeing the reveal of max being wrench is just so satisfying, this is probably the 4th time I've seen this episode and it still gives me chills

Those two looks for the Null Void might not necessarily be mutually exclusive. Who knows if you end up in the same place every time, and I agree with that other comment about it probably being a bit unstable, so shifting over time doesn't seem out of the question.

Seeing the Ben Vs. Pierce fight makes me wish we actually saw more of Ben fighting as a human

I think Animo being bulked up is appropriate considering that he'd have to survive the Nullvoid long enough to find his new source of power.

Idk if the wholesome music is because of copyright, Kuro pocking fun at the whole playing jolly music during serious scenes thing or both, but I found it hilarious. Also I’m beginning to notice that concern or paranoia about shape shifting enemies seem to be a common thing in the Man of Action Universe. The references to the line / title “Good Copy Bad Copy” from Secret Saturdays, and in Generator Rex and in Ben 10, the main characters old friends or loose allies are concerned or paranoid enough to make counter measures against shapeshifters. In Generator Rex it was a Tattoo that would appear to check that it’s the actual person.

I wish if dr.animo never come back in UA, and the next time we saw him gonna be in first season of omniverse, when he’s remove his head leaving the brain shown, maybe the reason be like “ after you leave in the null void, i found my hard way out! “, this is gonna be a good story for him, and better then sale some eggs 🤷🏻‍♂️

I kinda wish that D'Void was revealed to be Vilgax instead of Animo I think he might have worked better for this plot and been able to keep his personality similar to his classic series counterpart instead of the version we got in season 3

I always loved Animo because he was q weird junkyard scientist. All his stuff looks and feels like he made it out of whatever was around so his spirit in UAF never appealed to me. I am glad he retained his muscles through UAF cause all that mass doesn't just disappear

7:05 i think this is a matter of animo GAVE theses things that power, now before anyone says that makes no sense, he turned a frog into a massive toad monster and made ditto stinkfly mutant monster, so giving a creature a new power isnt that far fetched
