A shouting match broke out in the Dáil this afternoon when a number of TDs criticised the recruitment of people to the Citizens’ Assembly.
The Citizens’ Assembly confirmed yesterday that seven of the 99 citizens present at a meeting on 13 and 14 January had been recruited improperly by Red C Research and Marketing.
In statements from both the Citizens’ Assembly and Red C, the fault was placed on one specific Red C recruiter.
Postpone the referendum
Speaking on the issue today, Fianna Fáil’s Eamon Scanlon called for the referendum on the Eighth Amendment to be postponed over the issue.
“The most sensible and democratic thing to do would be to select two [people] from every county and weight the rest after that,” he said, adding that having seven people appointed to the assembly in “an unapproved manner” was not acceptable.

We have a smaller population than Yorkshire, yet we get to pay for all this crap, an army, President, huge civil service and so on. No wonder there is no money left for the hospitals.

The problem with the Health service is not money, it's extremely well funded. Civil service? I get. But of course, Yorkshire doesn't have to pay for an Army or President, it's not a country. Unless you want the Taoiseach to sign his own Government’s legislation without input, or you like the fact our airspace is patrolled by someone else, both of the latter are completely reasonable.

How much does this crap cost, i suppose they have to do something to fill the day, so might as well make it sound like its important. At least no _"I'm am a snowflake I am offended"_ today. Ireland needs a Trump.

We don't need a Trump. Trump is thicker than 2 wooden boards. We need someone who cares about urban AND rural Ireland and all 4 provences are and all 32 counties are represented. We need someone who isn't the EUs personal lickarse. We need someone we all can respect and rely on to run this country properly
