मैने इस मोवी को एक उपन्यास हास्टल के पन्नों से में पढ़ा था. पुराने दौर के हास्टल लाइफ के चर्चा के दौरान हास्टल में सीनियर की रैगिंग से बचने के लिए पहले वर्ष के छात्र हास्टल से बचने के लिए सिनेमा में 2-3 शो देखते हैं. पाकीजा और दिल एक मंदिर है का जिक्र किया था. मुझे लगता है इस उपन्यास कि पटकथा 80 के दशक के छात्रावास इंजीनियरिंग लाइफ पर लिखी गयी. क्योंकि यह फिल्में उसी दौर के आस पास की है. वास्तव में मीना कुमारी , राजकुमार साहेब और राजेन्द्र साहेब का अभिनय फिल्म को जीवंत बना देता है. कितना आदर्श और मर्यादित, सांस्कारिक फिल्में बनती थी. उस वक्त प्रेम शब्द को कितन बाखूबी निभाया डाक्टर के किरदार में राजेन्द्र साहब. मीना कुमारी का अपने पति के प्रति समर्पण कितना उच्च कोटि का आदर्श नारी रूप में.

मै जब इस फिल्म को देखा था तब बहुत बच्चा था सिनेमा का ज्ञान नहीं था धुंधली सी याद आती है आज 71 साल की उम्र में देखा। लाजवाब फिल्म है मीना कुमारी,राजेन्द्र कुमार राजकुमार का रोल जितना अच्छा है उतना ही अच्छा मधुर महम्मद रफी साहब का गीत है।

मैं 21 साल की उम्र में ये फ़िल्म देख रही हूं मुझे इसके गाने बहुत पसंद आये!! Masterpiece movie❤❤❤

बचपन में इस मूवी को देखा था, उस समय समझ नहीं थी।कल रात बिना रुके पूरी मूवी देख डाली, मूवी ही ऐसी थी। बहुत दिनों बाद सुमन कल्याणपुर जी का आवाज सुना, बहुत अच्छा लगा। मर्मस्पर्शी कहानी,अभिनय, निर्देशन सब कुछ था।इस मूवी के कलाकार आज नहीं रहे,अपनी छाप छोड़ गए।

1963 was a golden calendar year in Bollywood history. On one side, CV Sridhar's Dil Ek Mandir and on the other side, Bimal Roy's Bandini. Meena Kumariji was brilliant in Dil Ek Mandir. I feel she should've won Award for this film.

This is one of the best films of Bollywood though produced in Chennai. The film is a class by itself for the great actings of Rajendra Kumar, Meena Kumari, Raaj Kumar and an interregnum of comedy for relief by Sundar, Mehmood and Shubha Khote on an otherwise a very serious movie ending in tragedy. The lyrics by Shailendra are invaluable gems and no one other than him could write such heart rending two solo songs sung by the kokila of Hindi songs Lataji. Well, the music by the duo SJ is again a great composition but unfortunately except Shubha Khote. This is one of the greatest of Hindi films produced so nicely. Hats off to Sidhar.

Nice and unforgettable , heart touching movie of Meena Kumari

Both the original version Nenjil Oru Aalayam and Dil Ek Mandir were released when I was in 1st standard. There were no full pledged modern film theatres with back up power facility. We had a thatched touring talkies with single manual operated projector which functioned for 9 months a year. When power goes off, or during reel changes there used to be long breaks in between. Still both these pictures were discussed in every place....petty shop corners, village eateries, farm fields, barber shops, construction/carpentry sites. Since the theatre was near our school we used to gape at the colorful posters, black and white photo stills of publicity with great curiosity. The films' local publicity was through decorated bullock cart with band. It would roam around the villages with posters tucked around and colorful handbills distributed. I along with my mother saw both the movies as a 6 year old then ( without knowing what the theme was all about!). Those days!
