That's why you're the judge lol. You make things make sense to non beatbox fans. I appreciate you. Because I watch everything and I don't do it myself but if people say these are easy sounds he is just really good at it. I do appreciate that but I think you're right he mastered that and it's time to create.

I feel like Helium had so much to give but restrained from doing it, he went for a more musical approach and that messed him up in the elims..

He prepered really solid elimination that he showed on members telegram chat, but in the last moment he decided to change it completely and it was a big mistake, it feels more like a freestyle than a real routine

Helium commented that he was really trying to intend for his elimination to focus on his raw power. The issue was that during sound checks almost everyone sounded very powerful bc of the sound system so he was taken aback.

It wasn't musical at all besides the lip osillation at the beginning of the round? Very heavy on technicality in this showcase from start to finish really highlighting his power of basics. This is why some don't judge LOL

Everyone had very high expectations of him for the elimination but he decided to save alot. The elimination was great, if it came from somebody else people would praise it more.

I just think, how many beatboxers can do what he did on that stage, and actually make it sound remotely competitive. Yeah, we got clean beatboxers, but no one could actually bring more soul to that stage than Helium imo. I like how you say he and his choices are thought-provoking (and while many of the other technical aspects probably fly straight over my head), I personally would have rated him closer to the 8th spot (so far, we have yet to see the other elims and the line-up is beyond stacked!).

The staggered effect that he gets from shaking his mic used for melody in a bass-synth as opposed to "just for show" at the end of a bar like Napom does is pretty unique, but went unmentioned. He didn't do it as a party trick, but it was integrated into the melodic structure and theme

helium is so different to me. i cant quite touch it but theres something very special about him.. its like philosophical beatboxing.. it goes deep, sometimes kind of uncomfortable but always tickling something to the surface thats kinda unknown

helium is one of the most precise clean and powerful beatboxer there is. But i think he’s should show it by casually freestyling in a napom way to show how above he is to others on stage, but his elimination was too precise and surgical, which muted his natural flawlessness and precision

I agree actually. I think helium is really strong when he's able to just comfortably flow all of his crazy sounds and tech in more of a freestyle format, similar to napom. It feels like he's really shackling himself when he conforms to a more typically structured routine

Thanks for the insight into judging. Super interesting. As a judge are you allowed to discuss performances before setting your scores? I'm surprised you were allowed to talk about your thoughts to the camera during the event next to the other judges. Anyway - your logic and transparency of your judging is admirable!

One of the best sounds and power on the Live POV until now, I am sad that beatbox sometimes, nowadays, is not about velocity and power, and much more about musicality, cause i'll be honest... Who doesn't love a BIG DROP in a live stage? It's sad! But just like Den, I feel like he could have given more in the elim phase to pass through

As a nonbeatboxer, first I have always loved Helium since that staircase performace that he did I believe for Beatbox international and possibly it was at a GBB years ago. Big ups to him Also though as a nonbeatboxer, Dlow your prowess as a judge is next level. You can tell that you take it very seriously, but I can only hope that because you are not a judge yet for next year wildcards that 1 + 1 = GBB for you again. Obviously Solo is a must for you to enter for me personally but hopefully give it another shot with Frosty for the Tagteam Much love from your nonbeatbox friends!

In essence, it was a wonderful performance for the fans, but it was not meant to be a victory. The same thing happened in Impruver. It seems to me that he did not plan to go further. I hope that time will pass and he will be able to invest in the sound better, but not now...

Like what d-low said, he was leaving it to everyone else for his score. Now I’m not taking what d-low said as fact or my own opinion either, I just truly believe that was what he was doing and believe it’s a very fair way of performing.
