They actually of the narrow minded writers back then didn't accept any genre mix and stucked to the bone old school classics like Maiden,Ozzy ,Manowar,Acdc,Sabbath... They also totally ignored AOR also called "PopMetal" and bands like Ratt, Journey and many many more... The result was that as this magazine.was the one.and.only source of knowledge in a conservative class back then which I additionally lived in a.small.midtown which you didn't have more things to do or enjoy,I found out all of this bands at least with 15 years and more delay So far so good....

Not all thrash has a legitimate amount of punk elements to be considered crossover. Their early stuff was a lot more hardcore punk than this album was, the vocals were still punk like, but the music was a bit more thrash metal. Sub genre's can get confusing sometimes, because thrashcore is not necessarily the same thing as cross over thrash.

I LOVE it that it was this amazing frontman produced the highly influential and regarded album in the underground Metal scene Acid Bath's "When the Kite String Pops" way back in 1994. If any of you haven't heard of or any of Acid Bath's music I highly recommend doing so ASAP! It's very dark, heavy, atmospheric, beautiful with blends of psychedelic vibes and also a bit of Sludge/Death Metal, some Folk ("Bones of Baby Dolls" is a duo acoustic guitar song with gorgeous melodies and vocals). The vocalist Dax Riggs has a bit of Jim Morrison clean vocals but then quickly switches to loud screams/growls that has similarities of Mike IX Williams of EyeHateGod (another New Orleans/Southern Louisiana "Sludge Metal" band that I also highly recommend!) and also the music/vocals has a bit of an Alice in Chains vibe at times but is definitely not even close to being another "imitator" by any means. Acid Bath has their own unique sounds and pulls influences from several different genres of music which is what makes it so awesome. Check out their music video (their only official music video unfortunately. Their record company at the time "Rotten Records" was really awful and didn't nearly give Acid Bath the promotion and attention that they absolutely deserved!). They made a second album in 1996 titled "Pagen Terrorism Tactics" which is just as amazing as their debut. Songs like "Venus Blue", "New Death Sensation", "Pagen Love Song", "Bleed Me an Ocean", "Graveflower" etc all have not only very catchy melodies and lots of well made "hooks" but lots of deep intensity and pure beauty along with some straight up brutal riffs/breakdowns and vocals. I could write a freaking book's worth of a description on them and it's an absolute shame that Acid Bath would break up in early 1997 due to the bassist Audie Pitre dying due to an @sshole drunk driver (that also killed his parents and I believe a younger sibling 😪) but the vocalist Dax Riggs has done some special music with his ex bands/projects Agents of Oblivion (y'all have to check out "Hangman's Daughter" and "Endsmouth". Such gorgeous songs!), Deadboy and the Elephantmen and now his current solo act Dax Riggs. You won't be disappointed I promise! The now deceased bassist had a really cool and heavy/trippy side project band named Shrum. There's literally Magik Mushrooms on the cover of their first album which I love! They were really heavy and kinda wild! Haha. Check em out! The guitarist (Sammy Duet) has been doing Goatwhore since I believe 1998 and they are straight up brutal Death Metal! No pretty melodies, no clean vocals, etc. Just intense, fast paced heavy @ss Metal! Well if anyone has actually read this super long post I congratulate you! Please check these bands/projects and tell me what y'all think with your replies! Much love fellow Punk Rockers, Metalheads and music lovers of all kinds!
