Germans are allways making quality shit that last ages. I bought a straight razor from Germany just to have it. It's amazing quality. The best in The world. I see them doing it with a anything they put there minds to. Love the Germans for that fact.

I´m curious how you get the natural fibers/hairs? I´m very keen on how we treat animals and I wonder if these kind of brushes is "okey" from that point of view.

I think Kolinski sable is either from the fur trade for exclusive sable ( eg weasels) furs but are from pieces of the pelt that would be thrown away and not used in luxury clothing, so in a way , even if one deplores furs from animals being made into garments for humans, at least one can take solace from the knowledge that more of the animals " gifts" are used and not just thrown away. That works for me, as I love animals but I eat meat. I never ever throw away meat or anything made from animals as at least I want to show some respect by eating all the meat or using all animal based products to the end. I never throw away paintbrushes or leather stuff for example. I have also heard that the weasels that provide the Kolinsky sable are hunted in Siberia and Manchuria, so they are wild animals living a natural life until they are killed. At least they are not bred in horrid fur farms as apparently it is very difficult to breed just this kind of weasel . So at least they had a good free life until they met a hunter... These two answers are what I found some years ago when I wanted to get to the bottom of what lay behind my fantastic sable brushes. I really try to honour the poor weasels that have given their life in order for me to make my paintings, so I really take good care of my brushes and never trow them away even after they are no longer in pristine shape, they can always be used for washes and parts that do not need extreme detail. But then I also eat meat, drink milk, come from a moose hunting family, so perhaps the step for me to use animal products is not so steep as it would be for a vegan or person deeply comitted in animal welfare ( I also care for animal welfare but I accept we kill animals for food and also use them in other ways- but in a way I draw the line to kill animals for clothing unless you live in arctic conditions. )Perhaps that is hypocrisy to be opposed to fur as clothes but not to fur in brushes- I do not know, I just know the way I reason in the matter.

Where does your animal hair come from, how is it sourced, raised and harvested?

It doesn't matter, animals die for their fur to be taken no matter how nicely they're killed. Just use synthetic brushes if that's what you're interested in, there are many brands that make amazing quality synthetic brushes that imitate animal hair, and no animal are killed for them.
@SUSSDUE
@SUSSDUE 2 жыл бұрын
@@pep-o-butt672 Sadly no synthetic brush have been close to what I find in a sable brush, especially when doing detailed watercolours that require a brush that can give extremely fine lines and at the same time contain enough paint to last a long brush stroke or to cover an area in a wash that requires extreme control of the edges. I have tried so many brands that say that there is no difference between their brush and a sable brush and been disappointed every, every time!

@TacticalSeagull

meco chan the animal is killed and skinned. The main piece of fur goes to the fur industry (clothing, carpets, etc) the tails go to the brusb industry.

Animals do not get killed to harvest hair for brushes, they are clipped and the hair regrows and they are clipped again.

yes, they do. a good brush is needed to achieve what you want to do. that doesn't mean it has to be expensive or using natural hair. just a good tool. you cant write with a pencil that brakes every 5 secs, or cut trees with a bad axe. same with brushes.
