Your statement of there being no trace of old Anders is false. There are rare moments in banter where his humorous, quippy side still breaks through. Like one with Aveline where she even comments he's in an unusual good mood.

Yeah He mentions Ser Pounce-A-Lot ONCE! in the whole entire game. He's jaded AF!

There are plenty of traces of original Anders, especially in the beginning of the game. The further the game goes, the less he feels like his old self because he is literally falling deeper and deeper into depression and torment because of what is happening in the city. Plus, Justice keeps tormenting him, which is stated in his codex page and Varric also references it in his banter by the end of the game. In the begging they exhange jokes and laugh, but the more troubled Anders gets, the less he is inclined to joke around. It's literally character progression. You can't expect him - in his condition and mental state - to remain a lighthearted jokester like in Awakening. His DA2 writing is great and realistic.
