@@MickeLang Exactly the same plane! But it only has 26 gallons of usable fuel, so some legs are a bit tricky ;) If you had some spare time and a modern PC, you could test it out. It could be useful to get familiar with unknown areas :)

Same here, did the first leg yesterday. Took about 4h25mins. Fuel is an issue, as you say. Had about 15 minutes of fuel left at aircraft shutdown. That was cruising at 60% load, FL110, had to drop down from FL150 due to icing, wouldn't have made it at 80% I don't think. There is a community mod for the DA40NG that brings its performance in line with the real aircraft, I believe that should fix the fuel limit. In the default you can only load 14 gal per tank, 1 gal in left and aux is unusable too. You could also sneakily adjust the fuel level mid flight, feels like cheating but you're only fixing an issue with the default aircraft.

The night approach with the weak runway lights also once more showed the woeful shortcomings of MSFS. Their airport lights are always on and waaaaay to bright. It is much too easy to find the airports at night. I assume that is another one of those design decisions (like limiting the up- and downdrafts) to make the sim more newcomer friendly.

Another great video. Thank you for posting it. The route chosen had a long overwater segment. Was this a consideration in choosing the route? I think an IFR route along the west coast of Greece would have been about 50 NM longer (according to autorouter.aero), but would have avoided the long water segment.

The few water crossings that I have done have been in much older pistons, so even with life jackets and a raft, I have usually chosen a longer route in order to shorten the over water leg. While the risk, even in an old piston, is low, I was curious as to whether it factored into your route planning.

Hi David, very good catch! For ferry flights the company is able to issue so called NTO letters which are required to obtain certain permission. For example as some airways require some higher MEA‘s, the limit can be lifted for ferry flights only. So all good👍🏼

Nice video pal, I'd love to do some ferry flying, just adds a bit of variety to the profession! Out of curiosity is there a minimum hours that ferry companies like you to have before you apply? Took a Seneca II once from UK to Austria and brought a SR20 back. I wonder if I've met you, I instruct on DA40s for Skyborne Airline Academy and we had one delivered to us at Castellon, Spain, OE-DGP. Have fun and remember, keep the rubber side down!

I am not familiar with Diamond aircraft and their POH, but do these aircraft has FIKI system or these model for Arabia not install? What was exact weather in Neustadt, that you postponed your take off, in a picture looks like IFR, or the FIKI was a thing?! Thanks

Hi Max, no the DA40 is not FIKI but IFR certified. We waited until we could depart VFR and joined IFR then. :)

@@maxk3941 Correct, the DA50 will come with a FIKI certification. TKS on wings and vertical/horizontal stabilizer and elec. heated propeller leading edges 😊

Hi Markus, hängt vom Gewicht ab. Ich bewege mich beim Ferry so zwischen 1100kg (72kt) und 1200kg (76kt) mit dem ganzen Equipment und da ist 75kt eine gute Richtmarke für die Schwelle. 80kt klingt für mich jetzt bisschen schnell. Danke fürs Ansehen, LG Micke
