That's how I felt when my grandmother, who was the closest thing I'd had to a mother because she's the one who raised me, passed away due to cancer. I just couldn't believe or accept that she was gone. I'd have dreams in which she was still there and convince myself that her death was just a bad dream I'd had, only to wake up and be reminded all over again that she's gone. In my dreams, I still lived with her at her house, where I grew up. I mean, that's still the case, even to this day. I still haven't really dealt with the loss. I kind of just haven't allowed myself to think about it too much because when I start thinking about it, I start to enter a depressive episode. And the empty feeling that comes with that is the most painful thing. Of course, I don't think that could compare to how a father must feel, having lost his daughter in such an instance as this. I think that would utterly destroy me. But I can sort of get what it's like to have a hard time accepting that that person is already gone. That you'll never spend another day with them or see their face again. It still doesn't feel real. I'm not sure it ever will, especially for this man or any of the other family members of those lost.

Me too. I have a 6 year old in school and 2 toddlers and first thing every morning they ask for their brother. I couldn't imagine what it would be like to be these families.
