It’s less that kids manipulate and more so that parents let kids get away with poor behavior or use poor discipline. Most of the time parents know what their kids are doing, they’re not really being manipulated by their children, they’re just giving into the situation. This almost made me cry. My mum was so overwhelmed when I was little that she screamed at us so often. It was bc my father didn't do anything. And all their anger was projected on us. When I was old enough I had one wish: that my parents schuld separate. I was constantly in the middle on them fighting and I felt like it was always my fault. Idk what broke inside of me but i still have constant fear of disappointing someone by my actions I still could cry when someone is angry at me but it is really hard to communicate my feelings to someone. This episode really opened my eyes to some of my severe problems now in my adulthood. I hope those children grew up happy

@Vesah i feel ya, my parants are worse, they expect me to respect them when they are both the main aggressors, imparticlary my dad, he shouts, screems, kindda like the dad here, he was physically aggressive towards me too, i have dyspraxia and possible adhd and struggled alot with tasks in life, neither one of my parants thought they were doing anything because thats the way they are, narcissistic bullies, mum was more the controll freak on what we ate ect and still is, they both never like being told they are wrong, i never used to have meany friends for my mum had to constantly "have appoval" on who i hung around with/dated. Now as an adult i put them both in there place and am more aware of what kind of people they realy are, and quite frankly not ones id associate with. I like it when the parants take on board what jojo advises them 🥲

you know, this might be an unpopular opinion, but from what I gathered I'd say this dad tried his best with the skills he received from his own parents. I think he doesn't understand the impact of his authoritative, aggressive behavior; he actually means well and doesn't do it out of spite - he just didn't know how to do it better.

His wife wanted something different though, and he refused to listen to it. He just kept telling her that she needed to be more like his mom, sit back and let him "rule the house." She was trying to do something different and he was refusing to try anything different or listen to the one person he should have listened to the most, hence the call to Jo.
