It's here! My dad finally reacts to Marshal Mathers, Slim Shady, or most commonly Eminem. This track, Rock Bottom, paints a picture of the struggle like few other songs. I really like how he acknowledges the evils that come with the pursuit and obtainment of money, but, at the same time, realizes that he must put all of his efforts into that pursuit to simply make ends meet.

Facts Em is The G.O.A.T 🐐👑 when it comes to Rappers, I would say Eminem and Biggie were the most insane lyrically ever! But my top 5 of all time in order is #1 Eminem, #2 Lil Wayne, #3 Biggie Smalls, #4 Jay-Z and #5 J Cole ❤️💪🏻 and 2pac is on my top 10 list he would take the 6th spot of all time but Pac was the best poet ever in Rap

This song woke me up at 19 whenI was alone on the streets. No family. No future just angry and hurt addicted to anything I can put in my body to take my mind to a place where I didn’t remember the pain and anger. Always will love Eminem for making this song. So many people could relate. If your at rock bottom don’t give up. It ain’t easy but it’s worth it. 11 years later drug free for over 6 years. Great career and just got me a house and a lovely family. Thanks for the content man, you and your dad are awesome. Keep it coming !

@@Riley_187 that's not the point Eminem isn't the only great rapper out there and the majority of his music doesn't resonate with black culture. We don't rap.about killing our moms n all that other weird shit and since rap was created by, driven by, ruled by and judged by black people outsiders should listen to us when we tell yall eminem isnt the best rapper in our culture. Is he good? Sure. However, there's plenty of other rappera just as good of not better tha eminem in fact imo hos last 4 albums have been under whelming black people aint really ecen listening to him all like that anymore. Im no6 hating and im not being racisy but people need to stop coming to hip hop and trying to force their outside opinions on us and tell us who's the best in our culture. You don't see black people on country songs telling people that black dude from.whootie n the blowfish is the greatest ever. Speaking of that dude he's good and talented but there's plenty out there just as good if not better.

@@cherylagyemane8672 I'm half black and from Hawaii, I see where you're coming from but you definitely don't speak for ever black person, I see a lot of different cultures bumping Em here. Race is not an issue here. And he doesn't only rap about hating his mom, first of all his mom wasn't a normal mom, she would poison his food and feed him drugs to get attention, which is what got him addicted to drugs. I'm sure you would feel some type of way too if your mom was like this.

The guitar part that your Dad loves is a sample of Big Brother & The Holding Company’s version of the song “Summertime” from 1968 (with Janis Joplin singing vocals). Amazing song by Em, and one of the first inclinations of how deep his content and storytelling abilities were when this album was originally released.

Great reaction guys. The older folks never gave songs like this a chance because they judged his art based on the media's opinions . Since the older generation like my parents despised eminem due to all the controversy and the way the media portrayed him for the way he expressed him self, I think you guys should do "who knew" off the Marshall mathers LP, that song was in response to all the parents that wanted his music banned because of the wave that the Slim shady Lp caused through suburban America. Let's see what your dad thinks about it lol Keep up the great work fellas.

My mum bought MMLP for me when I was 10 for my first CD (she had no idea about him), and whilst she disapproved of the content overall she didn't confiscate it. I know this isn’t rap, but if you haven’t already I highly recommend listening to “Dance with my father again”. By Luther Vandross. I know you like Dear Mama by 2pac and this song spreads a similar message with this song being made for his dad after he passed away

So awesome to see your dad really appreciate Marshall’s music and lyrics! While he doesn’t like the swearing, he listens thru that👌 Btw love his interpretation on the lyrics and him pointing out that guitar.. He has an ear for music🤙 Haven’t heard this song in years but this reminds me of my childhood.. Being all mad and sad at the same time😅

Rap has become my favourites, for the sort of interpretation and emotion behind all of the lyrics. A person can sit there and really get inside the artists head and sort of figure out where they may be coming from. Can be pretty powerful stuff.

this song has held such a dear place in my heart from being in such similar circumstances for so many years. Me and one of my best friends would just sit in the car blaring this, smoking, stressed out deciding what desperate thing we were about to try to make money. great song really just felt so good that someone else understood the pain

You guys have great reactions to classic songs just found your videos today! Always fun seeing a first-time listener to these classics. I would recommend a reaction to Nas, especially “I Gave You Power” rapped as the prespective of a gun or “Rewind” a story told backwards. Those are both some of the great story-telling records which you seem to like a lot!

I have just stumbled on to your content and being a huge hip-hop head I must say, watching these videos (Suicidal Thoughts was the first one I watched), and listening to your pops' perspective of these songs makes me feel like it's the first time I've heard them. Literally, even though I've listened to them thousands of times and have them completely broken down myself, it still feels like it's the first time I'm listening to them. Amazing how that can happen. With that being said, I would like to suggest a song for the future possibly... Kanye West - Last Call I know that is a mighty long song and the breakdown could be even longer but hopefully I get to see it in the future on your channel. Thanks for this. Mad respect to you and your pops 💪

Great reactions/analysis. When I was younger and listened to Eminem, 2pac, and the other rappers you've reacted to so far, I really felt their lyrics so passionately. It meant so much to me at the time, and when I tried to share that passion with my parents, they brushed it off like so many others in their generation did and just claimed they didn't get it. I still feel a bit distant from my parents these days because of that mindset that prevents them from opening up to things outside of their comfort zone. It really hit home with me when your dad admitted, at the end of the video, that he didn't "get it" previously because he didn't TRY to get it. So cool that he's diving into it in such a real way after all this time. Subscribed and looking forward to more.

The violence in the song in the third verse all comes after he says the word 'shady'. "But its the evil that made me this back stabbing, deceitful and shady..." The tone of the lyrics switches up a lot after this line I think. Like he's saying his Shady persona came about as a result of the issues he raps about in the first two verses.

This song! I connected very deeply to this song at the time, I was 15 going through a very tough turbulent time. One of my favourite songs of Eminem’s but I do find it difficult to listen to, emotionally. Eminem’s ability to write his lyrics are just unreal, absolute legend...
