BT21 is a collab with Line Friends. You can use those terms to look up the merch. Each member designed their own characters, and they all have their own story. Shooky is an angry chocolate chip cookie. LOL RM is Koya, a sleepy Koala Jin is RJ, an Alpaca who loves to cook and eat Suga is Shooky, who loves to play pranks j-hope is Mang, a dancing Squirrel/chipmunk, but he started out as a masked dancer in a horse mask and then the character later revealed his true face. Jimin is Chimmy, a puppy in a hoody V is Tata, a heart headed alien with a shapeshifting body Jungkook is Cooky, a muscle bunny There is also a robot which is also Tata's spaceship and it's name is Van and it represent ARMY. There is also another set of small, chibi avatars of BTS called Tiny Tans (as in Tiny Bangtans) There are animated shorts, mobile games and merch with both BT21 characters, and Tiny Tan characters.

This precious 7 have walked the talk. They threw their wishes to the universe and then did extreme hard work and voilá. That is the recipe for success.

The benefit of explanation videos is mainly when a MV has a lot of Korean cultural references or a lot of literary references, like blood sweat & tears or Ddaeng. That’s how we had to learn what some of the songs meant also. No shame in that. Watch the explanation video after the video if you find you just didn’t get it or you know you missed something or ARMY tells you to. 😋

Some reactors watch the MV or lyric video, or both if they really want to concentrate on lyrics first and the song has both an MV and a lyric video. Then they watch an explanation video, if they feel the song needs it. Then they watch a live performance - all in the same KZfaq reaction. It gives a really well-rounded experience of the song and performance. It's totally not necessary to do all that, but we would enjoy it. Some of the reason explanation videos are helpful: * Language barrier - a lot is lost in translation like idioms, cultural references, callbacks to BTS' other music or history, etc. * The visuals on their MVs are deep and detailed and there is no way you will pick up on all of it without help. * Layered storytelling - Their songwriting is next level and if you love depth of lyricism, explanations help you understand that.

This was the first BTS song I knew where I really noticed who they were. It dropped the same summer as G Dragon and TOP's Zutter and because both Zutter and Dope's original title in Korean were 쩔어 (Jjeoreo), I naturally had to check out the newer group's track. ( I actually liked both and was impressed by BTS's dance skills.) But didn't become a real ARMY for another six months until I heard Baepsae and watched an explanation video that made my head explode because I couldn't believe they were singing about socioeconomic differences to such a bop. Re the explanation videos: a lot of reactors will watch the mv first and then follow up with a reaction to the explanation video, too. That way you get both your own first take and then a more nuanced understanding. The go to reaction channels tend to be DKDKTV for at least a handful of videos and Bookish Theories for almost everything. Bookish Theories has a charming accent so you might want to turn on captions if you have a hard time with it.
