I couldn’t smell for close to 40 years. I had surgery to correct it. I remember the first time I smelled a flower. It was a Gardenia. I about cried. I understand the shock of what a lot of these people feel. It is inspiring to watch.

For anyone who is curious, my dad still wears his Enchroma glasses. He's a traveling sales man, so he keeps them in his car. They help him see stoplights and brake lights -- something he still can't get used to. He also brings them to special occasions - vacations mostly. Anyone who loses their favorite sunglasses as often as he does will understand why he's so protective of them. We bought him an indoor pair, but they don't fit his head. :) So we're hoping Enchroma launches bigger sizes for their indoor glasses. To answer some of the questions y'all have asked in the comments - we live in Savannah, Ga., my dad will always be the man who uses a hunter's knife (even for scotch tape), his first car was a yellow corvette (hence the comment I made), and he has spent most of his life outnumbered by ladies, and although we're pushy, we love him like crazy. He is my Superman in every way that matters.

I've heard it takes about 15 minutes before the person notices a difference with the glasses. Did your dad find that to be true? And how did you go about figuring which glasses to get him? I was looking at getting a pair for my father and don't know what type of colour blindness he has, just that he has it, and don't want to ask him and tip off that I'm looking into the Enchromas...

If the indoor glasses are just a little too small and the frames are plastic, you can heat up the hinges of the stems by running them under hot tap water or with a hairdryer until the plastic softens and then adjust the fit before they cool and reharden.

This goes along with the abundance of green, but the biggest part is likely the colors constantly CHANGING and GLOWING with movement. Colorblindness is having issue seeing "shades" of specific colors. Example: The combination of sun and wind hitting the leafs in a tree causes a barrage of colors we take for granted. To a colorblind person I imagine it IS almost like seeing in black/white when looking at objects like that, until you put the glasses on. The trees/grass, etc. probably appear so bland and lifeless without seeing the color barrage.
@waldoman73 жыл бұрын
I had that in a way, and i'm not even colorblind. i've just had lifelong depression, and i had one moment of piercing through it and honestly perceiving green as more green. It was psychological repression of color of some sort. I mean could certainly identify different colors as well as anyone. I was not actually colorblind, but I can relate to how this guy feels.

I think the main reason I enjoy these videos is how they exhibit an almost childlike sense of wonder. Hi. I'm from the Midwest, but now live in Georgia. I do think this is the prettiest part of America. I love it. The mountains are great too. You didn't even see how colorful it is. Yes, very green, but there is a lot more variety of trees, colors of insects, and flowers down here too. Kind of like the Rain Forest. So much more variety in color in everything in this area of NC and Georgia. The best. Africa is wonderful too, especially the wildlife!!! We have mountain lions and other wildcats here in the south as well. Not as many as Africa, but they are out there. I even came within ten and fifteen feet of both a mountain lion and a bobcat. I'm a woman, but a tomboy - outdoors girl. I was afraid but enjoyed at the same time. It wasn't safe. I just breathed, prayed and slowly got away. WOW! It was awesome being so close to those beautiful creatures, but scarry! I also had an eagle come full wing spread right in front of my Jeep Window, so less than a2 feet away That was incredible. ALL Nature is awesome. Enjoy the desert.

I think the contacts just magnify objects and for the life time ones are put in some type of solution. So I don't think it could work. The glasses are away from.the pupil so when the light hits the lens it then hits the retina and the rainbow effect like a prism with a light shining through it then can clarify what the colours are.

I'm from Wisonsin. I have lived in Georgia 14 years and 4 years in NC. I KNEW it was the South around here. I LOVE the south. The colors and variety of trees, flowers and insects is so colorful. Rocky Mountains is as close to Rain Forest as it comes in America. I've been to Colorado and The Alps. The NC Mountains (and North Georgia) and landscape is the most beautiful of all. I'm STILL amazed by it. I thought I must have died and gone to heaven when I got here. I had loved the mountains before. I was NOT prepared for how beautiful it would be. I didn't know about how rich the colors and variety were, or all the rich green. HEAVEN before HEAVEN. :) When I drove thorugh the Black Mountains, I litterally had to stop and look up to heaven to thank God. WOW! I bet your dad totally loved it when he saw the mountains and colors in the fall. Oh, my! You must all really love being able to share this together which such a beutiful and close family.
