I just seen this video pop up on my KZfaq feed....really got my attention. Im in my 50s, when i was a teen i tried to play a guitar. To many strings and I was hopeless, a few years ago a mate took up a ukulele, again had a go but to much going on....very frustrated lol. I play a Jews harp an played for few year's, but fancy having a go on one these. As i green as grass with strings, cords this got me interested! What string they use? An advice wud be great mucca

Playing a limited range instrument requires a good understanding of music theory. Often tunes have to be transposed or fudged to fit within the range of notes available. For teaching I think this is a good thing as it forces understanding and creativity. Music theory is fun when someone can directly see it's application, allowing them to play a tune they love. I do think it's best to teach beginners using tunes they already have a connection to. There is something special about hearing ones favorite tune from under there fingers.

Actually I think they would be more useful chromatically fretted. That would allow you to tune the string down a semitone and get access to the leading tone below the tonic.

Is there any of these instruments left? This Canjo is amazing and perfect, the sound is great, it LOOKS great, and it the first canjo I seen with a fretboard, and it's electric Hope there a few left
