Daði has said that he will not compete again in SÖNGVAKEPPNINN the Icelandic preliminary competition but He is willing to perform at Eurovision next year, there is not a problem that does not have a answer.

I think the reason so many people resonated with this song (myself included) is how raw, authentic, and sincere is sounds/looks. You can see that Daði Freyr was nervous at the beginning, not really enjoying the moment. But then with music, you start to see smiles, joy, happiness. I think this song signifies pure, unadulturated joy and hope, and the fact that it's also presented in such a stripped down, honest way, makes it all the more powerful. I wish you guys all the best!

en JOY Icelandic is basically old Norse, the Icelandic people are descended from Norsemen who went to colonise this new island and never returned. Since Iceland is so very isolated ( no neighbors anywhere near), the language didn't evolve like they usually do. So while Old Norse on mainland Europe evolved into modern Norwegian, Icelandic mostly just stayed Old Norse. It would be like for you and me to hear Old Dutch, you can definitely see the roots but you can't quite understand it properly.
