- House of the Dragon’s showrunner has addressed the “super-fandom” surrounding Daemon Targaryen, saying he’s having “trouble understanding it.”
f there’s one way to sum up people’s problematic affinity with Game of Thrones characters, just think of the thousands of parents who named their baby Dany before the final season aired.
Westeros isn’t like Middle-earth or other clearer-cut worlds. Sure, there are heroes and villains, but everyone tends to have a bit of an edge, like Jaime Lannister, Theon Greyjoy, and Oberyn Martell.
We’ve only just finished Season 1 of House of the Dragon, and Daemon is the frontrunner for the most wilfully misunderstood character across both shows.

I am just forever in awe at how naturally and credibly Matt Smith plays this character, Emmy worthy for sure, it is such a pleasure to watch. And this edit is absolutely great, congratulations. I will save it for when I need my Daemon dose in these two very long years until season 2.

He's GRRM's fav character of all his works. As long as he's involved as deeply as he was in S1 Daemon will be fine.

People are so jealous of Daemon. . Now its becoming so disgusting . To keep the blacks from being upset they put white wigs on the black people . Now they are telling the audience that the blacks were the most rich and powerful. Do they think we are stupid. They were trying to make Daemon gay . Soon they will loose the audience.

Ok so this guy goes on a rampage in the first episode, kills an innocent messenger, kills his first wife, shrugs his shoulders at the death of his second wife, and put his hand around the throat of his third wife, oh yeah he really is badass and all this fan love is really so well deserved.
