Aemon had no means of reaching her, far too old and committed to the Night's Watch. Her eventual discovery of Jon as her nephew strangely did not settle well with her, bc D&D chose to do that. She saw him as a threat and yet loved him at the same time. He eventually pushed her away. She lost her allies, Jorah, Barristan, Missandei, two of her dragon-children, Varys who conspired to assassinate her, and finally Tyrion. In the end, she was alone with only her weapons of war (Drogon and Unsullied/Dothraki). No support, no love, no empathy.

Flip the crazy switch on so quickly. What in the fuck are you on about. She did not go crazy when she heard the bells end of..... Please re-watch episode 5.... She sat there in the throne room of Dragon Stone and discussed the fact she was going to burn it and innocents. So before she got to KL she was going burn it down. The bells were a plea for her to change her mind and not burn it down..... But she didn't, she stayed with her original plan.... So I ask again.... Wtf are you on about flicking a crazy switch... Complete shit.

The importance of Olenna's speech was truely underestimated back in season 7. She was the first who suggested Daenerys to be ruthless, to embrice herself for what she really is, to lead as the Targaryen bloodline impose. Due to the fact that House Targaryen has Valeryan blood and magic roots, madness and hunger for power are her destiny and downfall, even if Dany tried to be "more than that" ("more than mother of dragons"). The phrase "let it be fear, then" was so meaningful: she has always wanted to be loved from people (those times are the best moments for her character development, she is compassionate and kind there). And now, in Westeros, she’s spent all this time fighting for people she thought should love her, and when she realizes they never will, she’s willing to let their world burn to punish them. As Olenna said: "[here in Westeros] they won't obey you unless they fear you". So, at the end, love and fear have the same value in her eyes. There's no middle ground.

Jesus, the 8th season wasn't as bad as some keyboard warriors are claiming. Everyone's just overly sensitive because GoT is a show that gets the viewer so emotionally attached to the characters and everybody had this mental image of how they wanted it to end(including myself). But would you have rather there not been an 8th season at all? Even though it was clearly rushed(probably because the writers took the Star Wars job), the amount of people online whinging is ridiculous. Have some respect for the actors/actresses and people who worked on set at least. Would you be this disrespectful in front of the actors? Fuck no. AND you probably already rewatched the 8th season anyway. Stop hopping on the fucking bandwagon.

Ted Schellenger no, there were plenty of problems, it was rushed, people teleporting from the wall to dragonstone etc are problems that have been happening since season 7..... the ending was good but it’s how they got there with rushed character development etc..... fans have invested time and money into the show and do have a right to speak up when they think they’re not getting their money’s worth due to poor writing... people like you who say “it’s not that bad” are what allow writers to ruin shows... George RR Martin himself said the show needed 13 seasons tie propoly fleshed out.

Danny had many reasons to burn that city, to destroy everything Cersei had built and imagined. She gave them a chance to surrender but oh..you want to surrender after beheading her family in front of her? Nah, you asked for war, you get it. Perhaps the civilians did not deserve it but as a Queen, Cersei failed, she should be blamed. Her death wasn't satisfying enough. Danny gave options and they refused so she took back what was hers, with fire and blood. I'm glad she cleansed that city of vermin, but sacrifices must be made.

People in KL did not kill Missandei, they were not responsible for Cersei's action. And what is important, they surrendered and basically betrayed their Queen to surrender. Civilians and army, everyone. She decided to slaughter them anyway, she could take the throne and Cersei, they cleared her way. She decided to slaughter them anyway. There was not any need for sacrifice.

She did everything she could to circumvent violence. And in the end violence was her only choice. Every choice before that led to every loss she’d ever had. Her own brother betrayed her. Nobody could go through everything she did and not come out broken on the other side

So true, but in the end, when she saw that she won the final war and heard the bell, she had an option to just kill cersei or destroy the castle. But she killed innocents and destroyed the entire city. I still love her but when she heard the bell, if she had stopped there and waited for her army to conquer the city, she would have lived and ruled westeros, which is a happy ending for me :((((

Basically everyone followed her as a hero but in reality some heroes end up tragically doing bad things in the name of their cause. Jaime was trying to reform himself and be his best self with a woman who was positive for him, Brienne, but like so many he couldn’t overcome his addiction to a negative toxic partner. Jon was the classic leader and hero who didn’t want to be a hero but he got a relatively quiet unglamorous ending unlike most of these fantasy heroes. Basically George RR Martin wanted to break fantasy and narrative tropes in Game of Thrones and he did just that. There’s a beautiful realism to his story because things didn’t work out perfect nor even as expected for most characters, just as life never works out as expected

Sopia I think that what she meant when she said that violence was Danaerys only choice was that it was her only choice in her mind to achieve her life goal of taking the iron throne back for a Targaryen. She didn’t have to kill the innocent civilians but she did it to send a message to the rest of Westeros to fear her. She says clearly at the end of the season, “I don’t have love here I only have fear” especially combined with Jon’s rightful claim to the throne she felt her grip on the throne would be very weak if she didn’t make Westeros fear her. The KL massacre was notice to rest of Westeros, look at what I can do, don’t try and take the throne away from me or your cities will be next. However of course it backfired because she never expected her former lover and nephew Jon would kill her.

Nope Cersei was a powerful character and i think she cried not because of the throne but because of her baby and especially when she saw jaime. So she cried because of love not because of Danny. @Not Alfie That’s the classic poor justification mix, but it still doesn’t make sense. The writing is unjustifiable. Being hot headed and impulsive has nothing to do with it. That’s not what madness or evil is. In fact evil is cold and calculating. Like Cersei or Littlefinger. Or Sansa in season 8. Arya baked a cake with Frey’s sons. Sansa fed the dogs with Ramsey. I find that far worse than any death Daenerys has ever executed. Much greater perversity and cruelty. None of the people Daenerys killed were innocent. So you can’t justify it either. She didn’t kill civilians or innocents in 81 episodes. Madness or evil take years to complete. Nobody gets like that in a week. She had already lost her son, her husband and her people in one day. It doesn’t make any sense.

I noticed how she didn't laugh while killing. She didn't want to kill. Unfortunately, she did not trust in Tyrion since the battle in Casterly Rock. So by that time, she did not trust anyone and wanted revenge by killing Cersei. She smelled that Tyrion was looking for protecting his family, after knowing Cersei was pregnant, and he loves his brother. I think that Daenerys made a huge mistake naming Tyrion as his Hand because his family was the enemy. At the end that she paid that mistake. Also she lost her purpose after knowing John was the rightful heir and she tried to oblige everyone including herself and John to still believe in that purpose, by force the only possible result was the one we saw in the greatest SHOW I have ever seen.

Except it still came out of nowhere. Everything that causes her to be alone and angry happened in a few episodes. This wasn't a series long descent. Jorrah, Missandei, her dragons all died in 6 episode span. This could've have beeen way better written and if GRRM decides to finish the series, it will be.

This was actually built up since season 2. Daenerys has ALWAYS had mad queen tendencies and a love for "justice" aka murdering those who wronged her. As her dragons grew she started using more and more fire (just like her father) and this "plot twist" was acutally calculated. The only thing D&D did right. It was still rushed as hell in this season, but if we focus only on Daenerys we can see how this wasn't shoehorned in

Absolutely no reason AT ALL for ending it like they did. You made Ys wait 2 years for THIS? I'm almost glad it's over so we can wipe D&D's bullshit off the board (REALLY just seasons 7 & 8) and start fresh with new material and actor's.

I feel like there’s a huge misconception about Dany. She freed thousands of slaves, saved many fighting a war that wasn’t hers to begin with. And yes she got pushed towards the around right when she lost everyone that stood by her side. Everyone seems to forget Robert started a rebellion on a LIE. An unnecessary war. Jon went into battle of the bastards knowing he would lose because he didn’t have enough men. Which was basically suicide for what Sansa’s cause? All I’m saying is that Danh has done much more good than bad especially when she had the support of her loved ones. But no one else believed in her. Just herself and grey worm a man of battle. No ruler ever had the support of all the people .

At the end of it all... loved killed her. If she was mad, she would've killed John, before she was killed. She would've done it the moment he betrayed her and told his lineage to Sansa. It was her only request of him, after she lost her armies and dragons for his war.

She did good by killing. She freed the slaves, but burned the master/crusified the masters. Everyone seems to forget that most of the masters were BORN into it and know nothing else. And instead of imprisoning them she burned them. That’s not exactly good.

@@pengwing100 1)that was not Jon's War, maybe in 30 years you will understand that Dany was FORCED TO FIGHT WITH YHE NORTH BECAUSE SHE NEVER COULDN'T WIN ALONE. SHE CAME FOR THAT. if she didn't come to North, the Nk would have turned 1 million northers in 3 days and then he could have destroyed Dany in 1 day and would have become unstoppable. Plus, we saw that only Arya was the "Princess who was promised, destinated to kill him" and not Dany.

Is she really had loved him, she could have BEND THE KNEE TO HIM, THE RIGHT FULL HEIR TO THE THRONE, AND CONVINCED HIM TO RULE. at that point, Jon would have married her maybe and they could have rule togheter. I wish they had either added another season or made more episodes. Her descent into madness was too quick for my liking. I do like the poetics of the situation though. Two Targaryens born at around the same time, 50/50 chance for greatness or madness for both Jon and Daenerys.
