It’s shocks me that it’s easier to find a video of someone shooting the K7 full auto/ burst on KZfaq than it is to find someone shooting a full auto K2.

You'd be surprised be how much struggle ROK Defense force has with their congress to get the funding they think they need. Fielding a 600,000 army (relatively modern, not like the Iraq) AND Aegis ships and F15s is very expensive, even for a relatively well of nation. Especially when people want social safety net.

it's amazing that a country that doesn't allow it's citizens to manufacture arms or to be armed still make comparable military grade weapons. most air gunners know that Koreans make some of the best air power hunting rifles.

@sangyuni96 it's actually a K2 carbine with supressor. Big difference is that the K1 uses direct impingement gas system and the K2 uses a piston system. (therefore the K7 has a piston system, unlike the K1)

people asking "y not use mp5sd doyy" miss the point of costs and logistics, domestically produced means cheaper, direct blowback is cheaper and more reliable, it has no major disadvantages to an MP5 in fact, its ergonomics are close to an AR-15 or the weapon its reciever/chassis is derived from, the K1A, and most importantly, for logistiscs: it has high parts commonality with the K1A. South Korea's defense force is a modern, well organized one, theyre smarter than some youtube commentor.

@NoNoseProduction Actually, the name Korea is similar to a Korean kingdom, GoRyeo, but because of translations and how it went around, the name became Korea for easier pronunciation. The name came back during Japanese occupation era. Currently because of civil war, it's called North and South Korea, but previously to that, during Japanese occupation the name changed from Josun to the Empire of Korea with starting reign of Emperor GoJong. Even under Japanese occupation, it was still called Korea.

watch ROK Special Force video. They have MP5 and many other state of the art weapons that other elite Special forces have along with this one. Investing money to develop a weapon be it handgun or machine gun is not cheap. Only reason ROK is doing it is to strengthen their Military power.
@KJlost
@KJlost 14 жыл бұрын
@valkyrieXX Well the country and the police departments certainly do. Military usually gets the short end of the stick as usual.
@dba7dba

supposedly ROK didn't have budget/want to spend the money to buy MP5 for their special force/anti terror units. So they went ahead and developed this rifle. It's supposed to be about $600 cheaper than MP5.

@KJlost As you said yourself, special police units and SPECIAL FORCES units use mp5s. So why would you come up with the assumption that the police is better funded than the military based on ONE gun? the military naturally has MORE guys to give weapons too, so making a cost effective k7 for the majority doesnt mean they're underfunded...last time i checked, the police didnt have to worry about funding aircraft, tanks, thousands of operators, etc.
@dba7dba
@dba7dba 12 жыл бұрын
@valkyrieXX They do money. But they don't have unlimited amount of dollars. To equip an armed forces of nearly 700,000, you have to control the cost somehow. That's why this gun exists... Otherwise, they'd have just bought MP5 for everyone who needed a K7.

@NoNoseProduction yeah but during the time, people around the world still called it America. so during the war, they're called different names but once either country unites the peninsula, they're going to call it Korea, as no point on calling it South or North, because what will they be South or North of?
@Huhmasta

@KJlost ...........what the hell are you talking about? Have not seen ROK's 707th special forces unit do drills with mp5s? Almost all of their videos have them with mp5s....And how does the military have the "short end of the stick"? that makes no sense at all...

@Huhmasta Okay, let's just be clear. You do know that the 707th is the best of the best within the ROK Army right? Anti-terror unit along with war-time missions consisting of deep insertions and infiltrations. Of course they get the best equipments possible. So what about the other airborne units, light-infantry regiments, etc etc. What about these regular military units with need for suppressed weapons? Do you think they all got MP-5SD sitting around somewhere? Be real.

@HOLYDSFA We aren't arguing the name. We are arguing whether its a country or not. At the moment there is a divided Korea, one Nation called South Korea the other called North Korea. Its a fairly simple idea and point that you fail to reason. Only thing you brought up its historical existence as a conquest of land/ definition of a area of land.
@HOLYDSFA
@HOLYDSFA 13 жыл бұрын
@NoNoseProduction that guy's right... I'm from KOREA it's one nation divided and still at war. think of like East and West Germany, they were Germany and are now, Germany it was and is Korea. It's just that people want to specify so they add North or South because people would get confused as to which one you're from, when logically, you're most likely from South Korea. Savvy?

@NoNoseProduction Jesus christ I face palm'd They are both called Korea, as scholarly journals indicate, when given a city of either country it says Seoul, Korea OR Pyeong Yang, Korea. That one word. Korea, no North or South added to it unless they want to be specific and clear the message of its origin. IT'S ONE FUCKING NATION. ONLY REASON why that label is there is so that people get CLEAR UNDERSTANDING OF WHICH PART IT IS. Why is that so hard to understand for you?

@NoNoseProduction the reason why they call it North and South Korea is, as I've mentioned before, for easier understanding of which country they're being referred to. Yeah, history is not my major, but it's the minor I'm taking, and I read up in Korean history for fun every once in awhile for me to get in touch with my old roots. Also, you could have saved your embarrassment by investing 5 min on wikipedia about Korean history before you babbled.

@HOLYDSFA A section of land called korea, not a country. That means nothing to this conversation. Its the Land not the country. Like for instance which is the base of my argument people will call the land america. But doesn't mean the nation is called America. So thank you for finally realizing after all the wikipedia articles you pulled and "embarrassing me" with a null point that only supports me. Move along.

Gos this is getting cumbersome. The K-7 was requested by special forces such as ROK airbornes or light infantry regiments because they had a NEED for suppressed weapons and foreign weapons such as MP-5SD were determined to be too expensive. Get your facts straight before coming on to lecture anyone and save yourself some embarrassment. Yes K-7 is in service with the ROK MILITARY. No, they are not ALL anti-terror units.

@HOLYDSFA America isn't a country, America is two continents. Just because you are a history novice and would like to call it Korea doesn't mean it is Korea. Just like there is no America just United States of America. Simple concept. Just cause you call it that doesn't make it so.

@NoNoseProduction Perhaps instead of calling me a history novice, you shouldn't have poked your nose into something that's out of reach and out of your comprehension. Understand this, the peninsula was called before the civil war, Empire of Korea but imperialism in Korea fell with Jap invasion, and we've regained for short while after WWII. HOWEVER, it was short lived as the northern Koreans and their Communist regime waged war against the southern Koreans with their Capitalist regime.
