Nearly a year ago now, I used to listen to this song and think about a person. A guy I had a maaaaaajor crush on. But he was in a relationship. I wasn't in the healthiest state myself and longed and pined probably more than what was healthy. But it was hard not to, as I felt that - even if I wasn't the right person, or it wasn't the right time - there was still an unspoken kindredness between us. Even so, I managed to do the right thing for myself and let go of my attachment to him a few months later. The daydreaming and longing stopped. We lost contact for a while. Then I saw him yesterday (not planned, I ran into him). His hair has gotten longer. It looks good! We've both grown a lot in the past year; we've both grown up in the areas we needed to. I had heard that he was single again for a while but, based on our conversation yesterday, it sounds like he's entered back in a relationship again. Was there a small part of me that was like, "darnit!" - haha yeah, but I don't feel the intense longing that I do anymore and that feels great. The kindredness I speak of was still there and, if anything, I would say we connected even more than we had previously since we've both done a little growing up. One thing cool that came up in our conversation was our mutual observation that we've experienced really similar traumas, yet have dealt with it in opposite extremes. Still, not all relationships are meant to play out as romantic or sexual. I feel a lot more stable now. I feel like I can accept how things are with this person and with life in general. I feel more focused on me, like I won't lose myself to excessive daydreaming anymore haha. When I got home, I pressed shuffle on my spotify, and this was the first song to play. I appreciated the synchronicity.
