Imagine being able to go have lunch with Daft Punk. So cool.

That story with the different microphones is amazing. I just went back and listened to the track, and you can definitely hear the change in fidelity when he starts talking about the future. The recording is slowly faded between the different microphones in the middle of his sentences. "I wanted to do an album with the sounds of the 50s, the sounds of the 60s..." - very old microphone "...of the 70s, and then have..." - 60s/70s microphone "...a sound of the future." - new microphone, you can really hear the high end open up. Absolutely mindblowing. Highly recommend giving it another listen if you have good audio equipment.

If anyone is wondering why his accent sounds German even though he's Italian, it's because he is from a region of Italy that was part of Austria, where the majority of people speak two languages German and Italian.

When he mentioned the microphone difference, i went back and listened to the FLAC file of the track with decent headphones and you actually CAN hear the audio quality difference for each segment of his life. The difference is minimal but noticeable if its uncompressed, I never knew this and now i'll never unhear it.

the thing that makes this collab extra special is that Daft Punk has always looked up to Giorgio if you listen to a bunch of their 1997 sets, they used to do a cover of Giorgio Moroder's "The Chase" at the end

His life story in a nutshell goes like this: When he was 15, 16, he really started to play guitar, and he definitely wanted to become a musician. It was almost impossible because the dream was so big, He didn’t see any chance Because he lived in a little town where he was studying, and then he finally broke away from school and became a musician. Then he thought “maybe I have a little bit of a chance” Because all he really wanted to do was music And not only play music, but also compose music. At that time in Germany (‘69- ‘70), they already had discotheques So he would take his car, and go to a discotheque and sing for maybe 30 minutes and had about 7, 8 songs. He would partially sleep in the car because he didn’t want to drive home... that helped him for about almost to years to survive. In the beginning, he wanted to do an album with the sounds of the 50s The sounds of the 60s and the 70 And then have a sound of the future And then he thought “wait a second, I know the synthesiser, why don’t he use the synthesiser, which is the sound of the future.” And he didn’t have any idea of what to do, but he knew he needed a click, so he put a click on the 24-track Which then was synced to the moog modular He knew that could be the sound of the future, but he didn’t realise how much of an impact that would be... His name is Giovanni Giorgio, But people always call him *Giorgio* You’re* welcome.

"The Chase," from Midnight Express ... 40+ years later, still kills me everytime. Along with Kraftwerk and Jean Michelle Jarre, this man gave birth to electro pop and modern day House Music. Absolute Legend/s!

I really like that Daft Punk decided to do this. It again reminded people who Girgio Moroder is and why he is so important to the development of electronic and modern music. I mean, the guy even won two Oscars for the best score and several Grammys, but many people do not know about him. Daft Punk song helped make some new fans, from many younger people. It is funny, but going back we all know so many of these famous tracks that were part of the movies like Top Gun, Scareface, Neverending Story, etc. It is now that I can recognize why a lot of these tracks felt familiar and like they followed a particular style. I guess I just never bothered to investigate it deeper until recently.

The story with the three microphones is emblematic of this entire album, of how much effort was put into the sound design: this album is an impeccably recorded, masterfully produced, perfectly mixed 74 minutes of nothing happening.

Amazing track. That instrumental brings tears to my eyes like so many songs since the Epilogue last week. The drums are so tight, it's insane. Maybe my favorite drum arrangement in music.

I heard this song for the first time a few weeks ago on Pandora. I wasn't paying attention at first and thought it was an ad, but I didn't seem to notice how unordinarily long it was because it sounded pretty good for an ad lol. Finally, I picked up my phone and checked what was going on and was surprised to see it was a song. At that point, the song began to say, "My name is Giovanni Giorgio, but my friends call me.. Giorgio," and I was blown away.
