With SOTO I switched my untamed from power to celestial hybrid, much as you have done, but with dagger/warhorn & axe/torch. Part of the point to the hybrid approach is that your condition damage output isn't impacted by being unleashed or not, so you can remain defensive and still output decent damage... It's a lot of fun, and you can kind of spot tier lists where the person really hasn't played the untamed... With this build in PvE open world, I go for Restorative Strikes, and I'm almost unkillable. Not tried it in competitive modes. Paper Roll takes this approach, and I think it works well if you need to be able to bunker... Love our video mate, and really enjoy you pragmatic approach. Nice, I've been playing an untamed in pve recently and having fun using dagger/torch, this is the most I have played ranger in one stretch :)

Hammer Druid sounds amazing, i'm looking forward to that a lot. Might give this build a go as well, condi untamed with the dagger ambush is quite interesting and i've been enjoying ambush on weaponswap trait in pve.

ah! now this looks fun! I think I'd swap the sword mainhand to axe in duels though or even go D/D SB and play survival heal for the lack of many leaps in water field. man I just love Dagger ambush it just looks great.

Been trying this in PvP, it's a very fun and versatile build. I swapped sword & dagger for Axe & Torch Axe gives you aoe chill, shotgun bleeding Torch gives you aoe burning & fire field, which will output HUGE amounts of burning if you put it down in a teamfight. Troll, Sharpening Stone (This is the "flexible utility"), Protect Me, Lightning Reflexes (unsure about this), Forest's Fortification The traits are mostly the same, as Vallun said they are pretty situational. Except for Untamed. I picked the first one, that resets your ambush skill on weapon swap. "Flexible utility" can be swapped for anything really. I've had good results with muddy terrain, etc. Sure there are better utils, but with the extra condition cleanse on survival skills and fury from just one trait makes you near unkillable to condition builds. Going steady in Gold 3 ranked pvp with the build atm.

Really makes me want to make a charr untamed themed after rengar

Staff is really good for untaimed too as it gives good mobility, defense, and the ambush skill is really nice. I've been running staff with axe/ warhorn with the Let Loose trait and just cycle the staff and axe ambush skills. Give it a try. Also, The relic that gives prot and resolution on elite skill use (I use Entangle) is nice because of the boon duration from Cele.

Interesting build! The ambush on swap trait really added some needed fluidity to the spec. What's your thoughts on utility skills for this? Entangle vs Untamed elite? Have you tried the healing cantrip or some Survival skills with that Survival GM trait?

Love all your builds. I want advise Between ranger or warrior. For pve and wvw what you like most? It feels for me ranger is a beter warrior like class. Warrior GS feels slow

I use staff dagger/dagger and instead of the skirm i use natural magic with antitoxin relic

@vallun Hi there, late comment, mb! Which stats are you using in pvp mode with this build? I have a few cele builds on classes that benefit from both condi and power scaling. For me cele stats is less about having extra toughness than it is having hybrid damage + the expertise and concentration. The extra vitality is amazing too, but most of my non-cele builds run the Dragon stats, so I am used to a decent health pool. I just struggle with transfering those cele builds from WvW to PvP, I really enjoy a variant of this untamed you play here and in openworld and wvw its cele, but I have no clue what amulet to use with which rune in PVP. Would appreciate the help. Also, good content, keep it up!

Relic of demon queen is also very interesting. If u apply poisen to your enemy they healing will be reduced up to 80%. Thats huge.And untamed has a lot of poisen skills. Are the other pet alternatives aftter smokescale got nerfed? Looking for some other pet choices but dont know what pet is also good for WvW.

Could anyone tell me how to equip the dagger as untamed? I see no way of equipping anything other than hammer or core ranger weapons. As far as I know, only soul beast can wield dagger?

I need help here - I tried setting up this build, but I can't use any of the 1/2/3 skills on Dagger/WH with Untamed. Did they remove this??? Someone please help x'D

Can you not select the different dagger ambush like hammer on say a soulbest build?

i skipped EoD and getting familiar with untamed, the ambush skill is really confusing i have to look at my buffs to really know if i have it or not , doing weapon swaps/unleashing without the ambush screws up all the flow

As a thief player, I simply find that the dagger ambush attack of the untamed has everything that the dagger ambush attack of the thief lacks. thanks Anet T_T

Got a challenge for you vallun only if you drink though try WvW and PVP with an aggressive buzz i did it last night and it was so much fun

Ranger: The better warrior than warrior AND the better assassin than thief. Would've played it a lot if not for main mechanic (hate pet management in any game a lot)

Ranger needs to be nerfed so badly holy shit balls it is out performing everything else atm except maybe staff cata in spvp
