The Honda GL 1800 has electric reverse. It uses the starter to move in reverse, there is a button that engages reverse with the starter. It’s slow but works .

Did you used the stock Goldwing yoke ? If not how do you find a driveshaft with the same spline count and size. I'm building a GL 1200 powered triumph spitfire but need to find a compatible yoke and ujoint setup because I don't think the factory one will last long.
@thecryptolayman56955 жыл бұрын
I used one made by a trike company that fit their custom Dana 44 rear end. They had them made custom from over seas, but they can be made by cutting the spline off the stock shaft, boring the yoke of the drive shaft you want to use, make it a press fit, then weld it up. Any competent machine shop can do it.

So let me get this right.. it's mid engine? Meaning the engine is infornt of the rear Axle?? And you're going straight into the axle? (Asking bc the engine is rotation counter clockwise)
@thecryptolayman5695 Жыл бұрын
Yes mid engine, the drive shaft is about 20” long and the engines rotation was correct with the rotation of the rear differential. I did modify a Dana 40 narrow trac Jeep axel to fit under the van, made the axels 4 lug to match the original wheel pattern and added Crown Vic brakes to it. The van had an original 7.00 and the Jeep was the same as the Honda around 3:55

Henry Callahan no, the 1800 Goldwing engines have a driveshaft. I converted a CJ 5 Jeep driveshaft to mate with the engine/transmission via a custom yoke made by a trike company. The stock differential would not work at 7:15 gears so I modified Dana 40 (3:55) and fitted it to the van.
