I really liked the movie and even ordered it off Amazon. I've seen it several times. I guess Siskell and Ebert and me can't be wrong and I'd give Stuart a hug if I could find him.

Stuart Saves His Family still a great camp movie with heart. I was a server at a wedding in Mpls about twenty years ago where they had a Photo Booth and asked Al if he’d up for taking a picture with me and he actually did it & when we got out there was a line of 20-30 people waiting to do the same I felt so bad for him as he had the grace enough to takes picts with them with that said there were some real Betty’s amongst that cluster of excitable fans. That movie was actually good -- a lot darker and more dramatic than you'd expect. It wasn't a 90 minute dick and fart joke, so people weren't sure what to make of it. I mean seriously? People chose JURY DUTY over Stuart? Only in the mid 90's.

Yeah, I get that it's not for everyone, but I remember watching it with a legally blind woman I was dating here in Toronto at her place in the mid-90s and talking about what it meant to us and it was... well, it was a unique moment in my life. From SNL's ill-fated 1994-95 season! Al.Franken must had looked infuriated when his film, "Stuart Saves His Family" did poorly at the box office! As Phil Hartman's Frank Sinatra would've told Stuart Samlley, "I hope yer damn keister gits beetin', cracker-boy! 'Cuz when it comes to livin' in a world fulla crap, dere are dings in hell an' earth dat are screwed! Believe me, baby, I'm 107 years old! An' DIS...is HELL!!"

The movie stunk to high heaven. SNL skits rarely make good movies. The movie wasn't good enough wasn't smart enough and doggone it people didn't watch it.
