This is a recording of our live demo with April Wu.
April shared her daily journaling process with us! In the spirit of the New Year, we reflected and reviewed April’s year of sketching and saw what kinds of things she documented and kept a record of in her TRAVELER’S Notebook and Hobonichi Techo. We started 2023 with a Sketchbook Kaigi live demo with April and are overjoyed to round out the year with a look back at what she’s been up to!
April invites you to bring your own sketching supplies to the live demo and follow along for some doodling and painting to inspire the year ahead.

I love this! So inspiring! Yes, please invite April back again next year! BTW, I love that April uses paper that is good for both writing and sketching. I sort of avoid traditional sketchbooks because I enjoy using fountain pens with an extra fine nib and they feel uncomfortable on traditional watercolor papers. Would love to know more about notebooks that are good for both writing and sketching with a variety of media.

Thank you thank you! Of all the journaling videos I’ve watched recently, this is the one that really inspired me to filling some journal pages. Maybe your unassuming, relaxed enthusiasm? Not sure, but it was just what I needed. Thanks to April for the enthusiasm. Thanks to Maria for generously making this available.

Thanks to you both for this today! I often am conflicted about where to capture journaling - in my Hobonichi, in my Travelers Notebook? April, your concept of doing something daily in the Hobonichi and then having overflow/additional travel fill pages in the TN was just right - and helpful for moving forward and not spending time first deciding the "where"!!!

Thanks for sharing April, I just started using the Hobonichi Techno and needed idea's of what to put in there. You got me excited to "almost daily fill it out! I like that you say just don't get caught up with the paper and supplies, just do it and have fun.

This is the most challenging hurdle -- fear of wasting supplies or paper. Once you get past that and lean into having fun, it's much smoother sailing. Happy journaling!
