PFFTT don't be convinced. The money that they earn is black money plus the calculations are wrong. If a momo stall earned that amount of profits,one would easily invest in such business and get heaps in profit but to understand economics one has to break it down properly. There is no certainty in economics at all.

It is really sad to see so many comments insisting that they are taxed. What they do not see is that the lop side of any business, not all days are same and there are of other factors including less sales, wastage of food, transportation, LPG cost which are not taken. I sincerely wish and pray that these kind of business always flourish and succeed than Supermarkets and MNC fast foods who are looting in the name of organized sales out let.

I'd rather pay the supermarket and organization instead of these tax evaders
@SK-bu1yb5 жыл бұрын
@Zak Bron, It's not that the govt. gets absolutely 0 tax amount from these businesses. As we see in this particular example, 2.36 lac has been spent on raw materials for the stall. A decent percentage of this would go towards indirect taxes. Plus, when we talk about the supermarkets, how can we be 100% sure that they pay taxes? If every such big business were to promptly pay taxes, govt. would be getting a lot more tax revenue than it is currently getting. So, I think we are anyways helping a hoard of big business tax evaders on a daily basis. Let's not think regressively when it comes to these small businesses. Also, I just realized that the police (or any govt. official) can actually collect tax from these people instead of collecting bribe. So it is, in fact, our system that allows for these things to happen.
@rashuharshu5 жыл бұрын

@xxxdieselyyy26 жыл бұрын
This is a very glossy picture of stall economics. If Momo's stall owners were making 2 lakhs a month, Europeans will be lining up in India as refugees ! IDEALLY you make 2L but what happens is unaccounted cost like backsheesh for police which can set u back by at times 1,500 a day , employees getting sick, and ah yes- vandalism. A single case of vandalism can sink ur entire business and vandalism is very common in small trades But I salute this first attempt to show blue collar economics to the people but pls do a more detailed one next time.
@aayushmanbhatia65616 жыл бұрын
xxxdieselyyy2 I agree. They haven't taken in to account bigger thighs such as lpg costs, transportation costs, rent ( which almost all shopkeepers ask if you have a stall in front or near there shop, which you gotta have somewhere ) and even sundry costs like lighting, utensils, cleaning etc etc.
@xxxdieselyyy26 жыл бұрын
Aayushman Bhatia the biggest unseen costs in running a stall though are goondas, cops and arsonist rioters. The presence of these 3 elements alone torpedoes earning from 80k / month to about 9k/ month. And worker attrition rates kill u more. Like u have a fully crowded stall and one fine day ur Momo wrapper maker decided to take a 6 week holiday in his village. Then you have to sort of buy the same good at super normal price and supply to customers just to save ur reputation and customers complain that taste has become bakwas :D I've seen this first hand as Indian Jain people's who are bosses often hire central asian settlers to ground boot manage their shows where we handle crises form daily.
@ktcontentcreation6 жыл бұрын
you forgot to add the bribe, the free momo the official take as i am govt official ,wasteage, bmc breaking your stall into pieces and then you set thing up again ,,the run when u see bmc guys coimg to pull ur store apart ,the price paid once caught ...and it goes on

People should keep in mind that this is a repetitive job, requires a whole family to work and is NOT a 5 hour job. The preparation is probably going to take the rest half of the day. Imagine doing the same thing all day everyday. Althought 2L is still something most educated people can only imagine earning in a month, even for a family
@dopegod9875 жыл бұрын
1.There are many jobs which are repitive in nature. Ex- Unskilled factory workers 2. In the video it clearly shows that the person employees 8 people to do that job. 3. With that much amount of money a person can invest in various other things which can easily break the repitive cycle.

saney kumar shaw The main reason that stalls like these do so well in India is because they are very cheap in comparison to Chinese restaurants. Now of these guys get into branding and marketing their products, their cost will also rise up or they’ll just lose a lot of profit. Now tell me, why would anyone want to pay ₹80-₹100 for street momos when they can get momos in a proper air conditioned restaurant and dining for ₹120-₹140

They didn't add the cost of chicken and LPG or the plastic plates and the mayonnaise they give. If he is selling 300 plates everyday then he must buy atleast 3kg of chicken which is around 1000 rupees daily. They must also consume atleast half a cylinder a day cause the stove is constantly turned on for 4 hours plus it also takes additional LPG to make the momos filling. Plus if they have to pack stuff..then the cost of plastic bag and a paper bag should also be added. Apni tatti mathematics and economics Kahi aur lagao

I am shocked to know this much profit could me made from a roadside stall. No tax, rent, electricity need to be paid and no maintenance cost. Only downsides are that the store needs to be open daily for business so no holidays or vacations and then of course need to pay bribe to authorities but still so much better than a white collar job income wise. Thank you for sharing this information Scroll.in!!!

I would rather quit my MBA from IIM-B and start doing a momos business. Not like i would make and sell but i would hire some guys that would make the stall and earn, I'll ask them to give me all collected revenue everyday and then at the end of month I'll give each worker a salary of 10000 a month. They will be happy as well. 50 stalls in different areas should fetch some 7 or 8 lacs easily plus more if stall is placed in a good area where competition is less.

I have seen people selling momos in most populated places and nobody sells at 1 plate per minute. I think they have over estimated numbers just to make video sensational.
