+Nick Rhode Very nice team. This roster smells like the one of a Dolphins fan? I love the team, not big on Tannehill, but he will definitely be a Top 12 QB, tough for him to be a Top 8 QB this year though. Grade: A- but I highly recommend you find a backup tight end, or at least have one on speed dial--Cameron is too high of a risk for a sole, fantasy tight end.

+TLR Goliath (EllusiveJack) You have a great team, but lack an elite WR. Julian Edelman's value decreases in a standard league, but WR is the easiest position to upgrade. I love your kicker, D, TE, QB and RBs are amazing. You have decent depth at WR. I would grade your draft an A- ... You did pretty good. I would start Boldin and sit Fitz the first week.
@TLRGoliath

+Fantasy Couch Thx for the reply :) yeah I was a bit disappointed at my WR core. It was the price I paid for taking Gronkowski and C.J. Anderson back to back. Everyone in this draft was reaching for WRs and once I came around there was no value left.

+Michael Werderits I don't like Cam, Funchess, Eagles D, nor Mike Wallace. I do like all your other picks though. Cam is your QB2, so that's good, AJ Green is an elite WR and people forget that, your WRs, RBs and TEs are really good. I would think about dropping the Eagles D and streaming a defense week-to-week. Look at the Bengals D or Jaguars D. I grade your draft: B+

Michael Werderits Nothing wrong with him per say, I just feel Charles Johnson has a good chance at being more productive than Wallace, and CJohnson has better value in drafts. I would rather take Charles Johnson a couple rounds later, than to draft Mike Wallace earlier.

Good video in describing all the stats no one has time to gather, analyze, and narrow down in the course of one week, with so many players across 32 teams. And if the many questions you say to ask ourselves each week have a different answer, then you're far from narrowing things down to one best choice. i.e. such as when a different RB leads the league in each one of the stats you say to look at. And where do you get stats on total snapcounts and % of snapcounts for a RB, and where do you get total targets and percentage of targets for WR's? Data on those things aren't provided by free websites. Are you paying someone to figure it out for you? What if the tallest WR doesn't lead in any other stats you check? What if the CB who will go up against them is just as tall, but a different shorter WR will have a shorter CB? How would you even know which CB will be covering a WR in most or all of a game in order to compare them? What if the RB with the highest snapcounts doesn't get high yardage? What if the TE that gets the most TD's isn't the one who gets the most receptions and target points? See the dilemma? I need advice on how to narrow it down, even if I had the time to gather up the answers to all those questions, which no one does. Do you use a computer program with an algorithm that factors in all this stuff? If so, how does all the data you mention get input to the program?
@FantasyCouch
@FantasyCouch 7 жыл бұрын
Half of what you are saying is correct. There won't be 1 video you watch and then you are a DFS master afterwards... never lol... Most of the data is actually free. DFS is basic, these stats and factors I provided in this video are to help you make a better decision. Obviously, you want to start the best players with the cheapest prices -- that will never change. To make better decisions, put a little bit of weight into some of these factors that I mentioned. Here are some free links: Snapcounts www.footballoutsiders.com/stats/snapcounts Targets and red zone targets nflsavant.com/targets.php Red Zone targets/carries within 5, 10, 20 www.rotowire.com/football/player.htm?id=4400 Some do use spreadsheets and computer programs to help compute the optimal lineup. Knowing what CB is going to face what WR is tough and premium PFF account has that info for you, but you can look at depth chart sand watch the NFL to have a good idea who plays nickel corner, which WRs lineup in the slot, and also look at the injury report. For instance, we all know Fitzgerald and Edelman play in the slot. We all know Patrick Peterson and Xavier Rhodes are good corners. You just use common sense and obvious stats. We all know that Gronk is good... it's looking deeper into the factors I provide to help you find that super cheap option at tight end who has upside that week. If you play DFS, the dilemma usually isn't between 32 quarterbacks or 40 running backs... it's usually between 5-7 of those guys, and this should help you narrow that down to 2-3 guys. Hope I answered a lot of your questions :)

First time playing FF and must say, your videos have been incredible and so informative. Thank you! I was in a standard 8 man league and was 6th pick. Any advice you could provide? QB: Ben Roethlisberger RB: Eddie Lacey RB: Carlos Hyde RB: Jonathan Stewart WR: Dez Bryant WR: Demaryius Thomas TE: Greg Olsen DP: Luke Kuechly D/ST: Buffalo Bills K: Mason Crosby Bench: Tony Romo (will start over Ben for Week 1 due to Steelers playing Pats) Ameer Abdullah Martavius Bryant (due to suspension) Matt Prater (not sure whether to start him or Crosby honestly) Dolphins Dwayne Allen Adam Jones
@FantasyCouch
@FantasyCouch 9 жыл бұрын
+Jamie Arnold Thank you so much for the compliment! OK, here's the thing, the Patriots are a great team, but that doesn't mean you don't want to start your QB against them. In fact, it is really close here, and both Romo and Roethlisberger are slated to have good games. I would start Big Ben for Week 1 because the Steelers are going to throw the ball all throughout the game. The Patriots are the most-favorite team to win this whole week, so the game script tells us that Big Ben is slated to throw a lot in the 4th quarter and try to come back. The Cowboys may very well win this game and try to run out the clock in the 4th quarter behind that great run-blocking O-line. So, bot QBs will throw 2-3 TDs, then when the game has only 7 minutes remaining in it, Big Ben is expected to attempt more passes. I would start Big Ben.

+Anthony Savedra I never said that lol. I usually spend 80% of my weekly investment in cash games (50-50 leagues, head-to-heads and double ups), and I spend about 20% on tournaments (GPPs). It really depends what you want to do and get out of it. You have a 50% chance to win h2h and 50-50 leagues, about 45% to win double up contests, and 20% chance to win in tournaments while only 3% chance to win big in tournaments. I usually do a lot of 50-50s, head-to-heads and tourneys. Sometimes I do double ups as well. I typically stay away from Triple ups and leagues. I reveal more tips in the beginning of every single weekly DFS video I post (I posted 5 so far, and will be posting one for Week 6 real soon).

Man first of all, I would like to say you are best, thanks for all the videos, they help me a lot. Now my question is how do I go by on choosing the right WRs and RBs for my lineups? Like in cash games I'm able to win most of the time but when it comes to tournaments I suck lol so how do you go by on picking the right WRs and RBs for your lineups? Do you mix them up from high value to lower value or in one lineup you pick the higher value WRs/RBs and the next lineup you pick the lower value WRs/RBs? Thanks in advance :)
@FantasyCouch
@FantasyCouch 9 жыл бұрын
+Maxwell Owusu You're welcome. I really appreciate the comment. In cash games (h2h, 50-50 and double ups), you want to pick low risk players (Rodgers, Brady, Ingram) and let your opponents lose. In tournaments, you want to pick more boom-or-bust players (Kaepernick, ODB, Keenan Allen, Mariota) and also players that are not popular--players that won't be picked in a lot of entries. I could literally talk about this for 30 minutes, but that's the gist of it. I am about to upload my Week 6 DFS video in an hour, so be on the look out for that. Also, I'd greatly appreciate it if you could like the videos and subscribe to the KZfaq channel. You can subscribe here: kzfaq.info

+kevin josh You have great WRs and RBs. You're taking a huge risk with ASJ starting at tight end. Lions defense is OK this year, not terrible but probably won't be a Top 5 defense. Definitely sit Rivers and start Bradford this week. Rivers isn't an ideal start and you also have the Lions defense, which limits your upside.

I know that's like 2 questions ,sorry man .
@FantasyCouch
@FantasyCouch 9 жыл бұрын
+Anthony Savedra I am thinking about doing some webinars and one-on-one paid coaching classes to further go into this, but I can definitely give you some information. You keep asking about tight ends... The fact is that tight ends are the most inconsistent position (other than kickers and defenses) from week-to-week and the toughest to project. Sometimes in cash games, I punt that position (spend a very low amount of my salary on that position). For example, several of my cash lineups had Carrier last week (Washington's tight end). I wasn't too confident in him, but I would rather spend much less money on a player that could be a bust than to spend a lot and have him be a huge disappointment. When it comes to projections, you want to identify risk... You want to identify a player's floor (their minimum projection) and their ceiling (their maximum projection). For example, Keenan Allen is a boom-or-bust type player usually; therefore he has a low ceiling and a high floor. Players like that are better suited for tournaments. Crabtree seems to be have a higher floor but a lower ceiling -- he sees a lot of targets but probably won't have too many games where he will be a Top 5 WR or anything like that. Crabtree may be better suited for a cash game. Let me know if you may be interested in a webinar or one-one-one coaching. +HAAD DA LEGEND Great, well-rounded team. I don't like the Alfred Blue pick because by the team you consider starting Alfred Blue, when Bye Weeks hit, Foster will likely be back and healthy. I would look to trade away Alfred Blue to Foster's owner. Other than that you have a great team. I love your starters, but your bench could use some improvement perhaps. Charles Johnson and Abdullah are amazing picks and have tons of upside that your bench brings. If this is an 8-man league, you get a Grade: A- If this is a 10-man league, you get a Grade: A+ no way this is a 12-man league or you cheated lol! And thank you so much for your support! Good luck in fantasy! Hope you Abdullah all on your opponents the 2nd half of the season!

+Joey Reichert Very nice team. I like your starters and Abdullah, but other than that, you're bench is lacking. Baldwin is droppable, so is Torrey Smith. By the time you would need to start Blue, Foster will be healthy. Fleener is not a good start unless D.Allen goes down, then he becomes a great start. With that being said, you do have a good team, but look to improve your bench. Draft Grade: B+/A- ...If Abdullah works out, definitely at least an A-

Great video. definitely got a sub from me. I have a question the about the tournament leagues. does fan duel or draft kings combine similar contest to fill the spots up? EX: Two contest with first place takes $100. With 20 spots each but one has 12 filled and the other have 8 filled. would they combine them?
@FantasyCouch
@FantasyCouch 8 жыл бұрын
+Michael Caldwell Thank you. I really appreciate the comment! No, they don't do anything like that. A tournament is also known as a GPP or guaranteed prize pool; this means the prize is guaranteed no matter what. So if you are the only one that enters the tournament, you will win 1st place regardless. Let's make sure the terminology is right, because a league with no guaranteed prize pool has to fill up, or else it will be cancelled. I usually enter in H2H, GPPs, and sometimes 50-50 leagues and DoubleUps... I don't play the small leagues with no GPP.

Awesome vid. Thanks for the info. I saw the answered question below about a good site for the snap count, but when you say "Vegas Lines" and show the score predictions, is there a specific site you use? I've searched score predictions for the week and some vary. What's the more trusted info? I've subscribed and look forward to going through your videos. Great beard by the way ;-) One other question for you. You say "players that you know (think) are gonna produce that are extremely cheap are good picks". I understand the concept of the WR1 and 2 being injured then obviously numbers 3 and 4 will see more action. I realize you have to stay below the salary cap, but why does it matter if they're "really" cheap? It's not like any salary money left over actually converts to fantasy points (which would be cool BTW). Do you make that comment strictly on the fact that it would allow you to pick a player in another position with a higher salary? Just starting out and trying to get as much info as possible since I've been burned a few times already trying to go with the highest salary players I can.

+Fantasy Couch Hey man, just wanted to let you know, Ive taken your advice and have done so/so. Which is better than total losses like the first attempts. (so this is progress!) Thank you. .It's all a learning process right now for me. I wanted to ask you one question though. If you were planning to utilize a lineup generator for FD. Would it make more sense to enter these lineups in individual contests or in the same one. Also, would it make more sense to enter them in guarantee tournaments or 50/50? It just seems if I were to enter these into 50/50 and some do well while others bomb, it could just be a break even scenario. Thoughts?
@FantasyCouch
@FantasyCouch 8 жыл бұрын
hendu3270 Good to hear. Let me tell you what I personally do, and this will help address your questions and concerns quite well... I like to win big every week just like the next guy, but a bigger concern for me is not to lose my entire weekly investment in just 1 week of the NFL--there's going to be some up and downs. Because of this, I always vary my contests and lineups. I use 80% of my weekly investment on cash games (mostly H2H, a good amount of 50/50 leagues and some DoubleUp contests), and the remaining 20% on the big prize tournaments (GPPs). I never use the same GPP lineup in more than one GPP as I consider that greedy and silly (an example: why invest in several condos in the same complex? It's smarter to diversify your investments in condos in different areas and probably even invest in houses and other properties). I developed my own lineup optimizer and I don't even use it. Using it isn't a bad thing, you just want to remember that you use floor projections (players' minimum projected points) for cash games and ceiling projections (players' maximum projected points) for tournaments. Another factor in tournaments is to pick players that are sleepers and will not be owned in a lot of entries... I typically pick 1 or 2 sleeper players in GPPs. Hope that helped!

Yes, need some help at RB, but lucky for you, Terrance West was recently traded to the Titans, so Crowell's value goes up. I notice that you guys do not start 3 WRs nor a flex? If that's the case, then RB and WR depth is a little bit less valuable. I love your 2 starting WRs... If you're team stays healthy, it will beast. Can you tell me what you think of this situation? This week, I took the advice of those who say to check out the Vegas lines to find out who the 8 highest scoring teams should be. People give that advice cause they figure the highest scoring teams should give you the best edge to have higher scoring players compared to other teams, right? So they're saying to focus on THOSE teams, right? So I decided to do that and forget all other teams, pulling my players from those 8. I spent hours entering that data into a spreadsheet, just to know who those 8 teams were. After computing each team's Vegas estimate using the O/U and the spread, they range from a high of 28.75 for OAK, down to 25.75 for PIT. I then checked my weekly stats that I spend hours on each week, recording on paper who was used the most for rushing, and receiving. It varies each week. This is my first season playing DF football, and the one thing I've learned is you never know who an offensive coordinator is going to use most to game the other team from week to week. i.e. One week, GB uses Cobb a lot, the next week they don't. I suppose that's where standard deviation comes in for those who have time to mess with it. I can see why someone my use Crabtree and or Cooper all the time cause they are two guys who get most of the work, instead of WR by committee, like a DAL or GB. I get that. Also, a players production can vary from week to week. McCoy did great one week, then got stymied the next. Elliott didn't do squat against DEN. Tyreek Hill and Kareen Hunt tore up NE Week 1, so naive little me grabbed them up with what I thought was a steal of a price for Week 2, then nothing. MIN had WR Diggs going off the charts, so I take him the next week, and nothing. Now I know why player prices don't fluctuate wildly from week to week as much as player performance does. What's past is past, and not an indication of the next week. But I wasn't using the Vegas lines method those 2 weeks to narrow down the TEAMS FIRST. So now I've done that. I created a lineup with players just from those teams. I decided to enter a double-up contest that included all 16 games. I didn't have a player from the Thursday night teams, but decided to play anyway, figuring that having players from that game, (which I didn't cause they weren't in my Top 8 teams), didn't necessarily help other players cause those weren't the best teams, and they could just as easily hurt their point total for the week as to help it, and I'd make up any points they got ahead of me in later games. Then Gurley gets a whopping 40.9 right off the bat, putting the lineups who had him for Thursday in the 2nd group of contest leaders, by far. Those who also chose Carlos Hyde are in the top heap above those who had only Gurley. Hyde got 24.4. Then all of us lizards have to play catch up the rest of the weekend, a whopping 60.3 points behind after just one game!. So I'm already sunk. In my previous 2 Weeks, I have yet to have even one player get 30 pts, much less 40 pts. Another issue is that Cobb was on the injury report, so I took him out for now, and went with DeAndre Hopkins, which put me $100 over salary cap. I didn't see a good alternative to a PHI defense, so I had to sacrifice Ty Montgomery to move down in salary and took Tarik Cohen. I'll change them all back before kickoff if Cobb looks healthy, or play both lineups since I'm only doing $1 contests right now to see how I can do, which is smart cause I'm way underwater. What do you think of all this? My thinking is that a person has to narrow things down from the start, and the Vegas lines method sounds as good as any. That makes it manageable. Problem is, that means I ruled out the Thur night game of LAR and SF completely. I didn't even look at my stat sheet for them, or I would have been reminded that Gurley has had some good stats this year, and in Weeks 1 and 2 I considered or used him, but can't do so using the Vegas team elimination method cause his team wasn't projected high scoring, which turned out to be WAY off. No one knew he would have such a good game. We never know. It's too volatile. People paying up through the wazoo for guys like LeVeon Bell and Julio Jones got screwed, (in Week 1, especially.) Would you say I've done absolutely nothing wrong, and being behind by so many points after Thurs is just part of the game, and it's probably going to be a bad week, or would you say the Vegas method of narrowing down teams is a good start, but that I should have done something else to make sure I considered Gurley? It seems to me, the same teams are scoring the highest points throughout the season. So teams like ATL, GB, NE, etc will always hold your core players if that's your strategy. It seems that using players from teams that aren't even projected by Vegas to score 25 points is shooting yourself in the foot. But then, that strategy means you miss the high point getters from the other teams. The O/U for Thursdays game was obliterated, with 70 pts total from both teams. Who knew? No one. Do I just write this off, or could I have done something more? Luckily, I only risked $1, just to enter and see how I can do. When I think of the better players who put up thousands or dollars in entry fees per week, that's just too much money to lose if they had used the same strategy I did. I have good players, but I'm already at a huge disadvantage because of the way Gurley and Hyde played Thursday night. Based on your experience, would you be kicking yourself right now, or would you say you did exactly what you were suppose to, but luck just wasn't on your side this week? I have to find a strategy that's going to produce more wins than loses before I even think about moving up in stakes, entry fee, and contest difficulty, and I'm not even close to finding it yet. I can't even beat the beginners on Draft Kings, and we know they don't all have computer program algorithms and fancy data downloaded from a paid site into a spreadsheet. Also, do you think there's a big leap in ability between the average NFL DFS player with under 50 contests (no badge) and the ones who have more? From looking at the results of contests I've entered, the 'beginners' are doing pretty damn good when so many players have such high scores. Or maybe it's just that 50% of the people in a double-up are going to be luckier each week, and I just haven't had their luck. Thanks for any feedback. I know I've thrown a lot of crap at you, but if you don't have time to answer every question, I mainly want to know if I should continue using just players from the highest Vegas predictions and don't sweat the other teams and players, or if I should ALWAYS keep looking for value anywhere I can get it, with Vegas just being ONE of the many things I have to spend my time on. If you say the latter, well, there's just not enough time in the week for all of this.

No problem. I'll just say, the preparation isn't fun for me, it's work, but could me made more tolerable if winning. Only when the games go 'live' and I'm trying to jump ahead of the competition does it become really fun to watch...until I lose, then the fun evaporates like coffee vapor. Is the fun on Sunday and Monday enough to offset all the work if I lose? Not at all. I'm here for the money, to get my bills paid. If I'm only going to lose, then I need to move on to something else.

Probably a stupid question, but what's a game script? and what site/info do you use for stats?
@FantasyCouch
@FantasyCouch 9 жыл бұрын
+Bryan.G Game script has to do with how the game will unfold: Will it be a high scoring game or low scoring game? Identify the highest scoring and lowest scoring games by looking at the Vegas lines. What team is heavily favorited? Remember the Patriots in Week 3 were favorited to win by 15 points? The game script tells us that the Patriots may run the ball a lot, especially in the 4th quarter because they may have a big lead. Low-scoring games are good places to look for team defenses to pick. You can find the Vegas lines by just googling it or go to one of these sites: Vegas Lines: www.footballlocks.com/nfl_lines.shtml or espn.go.com/nfl/lines For snap count, O-Line and D-Line stats: www.footballoutsiders.com/stats/snapcounts Red Zone stats: NFL Fantasy www.rotowire.com/football/player.htm?id=4400 Targets: espn.go.com/nfl/statistics/player/_/stat/receiving/sort/receivingTargets or nflsavant.com/targets.php O-Line: www.footballoutsiders.com/stats/ol2014

At 5:15, what is a 'decoy?'
@FantasyCouch
@FantasyCouch 7 жыл бұрын
Better to give you real examples to help explain. A few years ago Jimmy Graham, a great receiving tight end, was injured but he came back relatively early from injury. Even though he was nowhere near 100%, the Saints activated him and he lined up as a receiver on some plays. Turns out he couldn't even physically catch a football, so he was used as a decoy to get the defense's attention. He got zero points that game. A few weeks later he was fine and started playing better. Some thought that Odell Beckham might have been used as a decoy Week 2 in his first game back against the Lions, but he wasn't. Another example is a few years back, when the Packers faced the Seahawks. Knowing that Sherman stays on one side of the field and doesn't follow receivers, the Packers put their worst wide receiver on Sherman and didn't throw Sherman's way not one time the entire game... that receiver was used as a decoy. A decoy is basically a receiver who doesn't get the ball thrown to but is used to get the attention of defenses. In most cases, it's a bit-time receiver who is hurt. We saw this in real life too when the Broncos put Terrell Davis even though he couldn't see (severe migraine) as a decoy. John Elway faked a handoff to him and ran the touchdown in himself.
@JoeDoe2
@JoeDoe2 7 жыл бұрын
When you say that 'some thought that Odell Beckham.....", what is your main source of information in knowing what people are thinking? I don't see how anyone has time to record their stats from the previous week, then use them to prepare for the upcoming week, plus listen to podcasts or read articles of what other spin doctors are saying. It makes it even harder when I try to watch every game using Game Pass and that's about an hour per game (Condensed version) by the time I look up and write down my stats for each team (who the top ball carriers and pass targets were). So with no bye weeks, that's 16 hours per week before I even start prepping for the next week, just to watch the games and record what happened. If I devote 4 hours per day watching games and recording stats on what happened, that means I don't even get started on the next weekend until Friday. I try to do both at the same time, working far more than 4 hours per day, but I still don't start narrowing down a lineup until later in the week. Timewise, listening to other people's takes on upcoming games has been out of the question, except that Week 2 I spent some time reviewing that Fabiano guy on NFL. com who is very big on matchups. That was cause I go to nfl.com a lot and couldn't miss it. They say he is a member for the Fantasy Hall of Fame, whatever that is. He doesn't do recommendations on the super stars, so if you want to pay up for the big names, you'e on your own. After ranking his player recommendations at each position, I made three different lineups that I called 1st string, 2nd string, and 3rd string, each using different combinations of those players. Only my 2nd string won, so I had a 33% win rate. Would it be a good idea to just find my fav spinsters to narrow down the field, and pick the players I like from there? Are there successful players beating the odds who do that and nothing else...no spreadsheet, no watching games, just what what someone like Fabiano says? Perhaps I need to give it more than one week to see if he, or somebody else, can get me more than a 33% win rate. Part of the problem is I'm only interested in NFL DFS, not other sports, so I've got just 16 weeks of play to earn my income from DFS for the year, unless I do playoffs too. And I don't want to use the excuse that it's my first year to play. I want to move up in stakes as soon as possible. I have the bankroll, I just don't have the track record to start risking more of it. It must be a gradual increase, proving all along the way that I can win more than lose before moving up in competition. I'm conservative in that regard. Blowing a bankroll too soon will not be my problem like it is for some other folks. But based on the first two weeks, plus my first contest of Week 3 where I'm getting creamed after Hyde and Gurley on Thurs night, it's looking really bad.

Odell was injured, a game-time decision and i turned on the TV. ESPN and NFL Network and the Internet. Also, me myself. Odell was hurt, i just used my own judgement. He has a real injury and he might not suite up, so even if he did, maybe he wouldn't play that many snaps or me wouldn't see as many targets. A healthy player is better than an injured player

+tvbox303 Total? That's a personal question, comparable to if I asked you how much total money did you make during your last job. I will tell you this though, this lineup was the closest I got to winning $1Million with just one entry: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/l8eddcxj3Ku8YHU.html

Ah, sorry about that I guess I just wanted to know what your winning percentage were, but you dont have to answer that either. I just came across your channel for the first time today, and going through your vids, I'm impressed on your depth of knowledge. That week 6 you killed it! I was looking back at that week and what killed my lineup was JC injury. Keep up the good work man.

tvbox303 No worries at all. It's a natural question a lot of people ask out of curiosity. I will tell you that I am making a significant return on my investment this NFL season... and if you see my video with my picks for Week 1, you can see why lol. Anyway, I will reveal more of my secrets and also more of my personal story in a free webinar I am hosting this Saturday. You can get more info and register here: www.fantasycouch.com/2015/12/free-webinar-dfs-nfl-secrets/
