I'm convinced that teaching is the only profession where we hands-on, boots-on-the-ground do EVERY job below and above us, and will never get compensated. We are custodians, counselors (I swear we do more counseling than our counselor does), administrators, librarians, and add anything else to the pile. I was going to add "parents" to the list, but parents don't get paid. Anyway...YES to everything you said about students needing to know how to read a map.

I am so glad Taylor told the kids about cumulative GPA my oldest daughter struggled a bit in 9th grade and even though she graduated with a 4.0 the college definitely looked at her 9th grade year with a side eye. Great job both of you 💜

This is the first time that I have heard you mention library class. As a new librarian working on my cert, I would love to know if you collaborate with your librarian. I have 40 minute classes with a 10 minute checkout and honestly have to do mini lessons. I struggle with my 5th and 6th grades. I want to build engagement with more diversified texts. I’m thinking of doing a novel study for long walk to water. I would love your thoughts on this. I’ve been a long time viewer of your videos, but they are even more relevant in my current position.
